I was hesitant to post this cos it is such a horrible thought (and even worse for people who may have had it happen) but I have been bothered about it all day since I woke up...
I dreamt last night that I gave birth at full term, and tahAt baby was not alive. I saw her face so clearly, she was so real! Seems she has pased away only a few days before. Everything was so clear, it was as if it was really happening...
I know we have some bad dreams during pregnancy and all because of our minds working overtime, but this dream has just stuck with me, really playing on my mind all day and I am quite petrified now that it was some sort of premonition...stupid I know but I cant shake this feeling of dread...
What I was wondering is if I am 34 weeks now and everything seems to be ok, then what are the chances of this actually happening...
PS: Sorry for the morbid topic, just cant seem to get it out of my head...!

Oh Frantic......Its natural for you too dream weird dreams like this specially closer to time. I had dreams like that all the time.....but Zaara is well and growing up fast!

Look I am not going to say things like this dont happen but try not to think about it. Make sure you keep a tab on the baby and movements. I could be wrong but I think baby is suppose to move 10 times a day....so if you are concerned then see your doc. But as I said chances of that happening to you is slim!!

Take care hun and try not to worry...you stress = baby stresses.....

95% of babies born after 30 weeks survive. The 5% that don't are made up of a whole different spectrum of causes - most are due to abnormalities that have already been diagnosed, only a very, very tiny number die of unexplained causes in utero.

Hope this reassures. I know it made me feel a lt better once I got past the magic 30 week mark with Maya.

I can't be bothered trailing back through to find the post I made about this last time someone brought up scary premonition dreams, but to give you the quick(ish) rundown...
Baby #1 - Clear premonition-like dream that Mt Eden erupted and Auckland needed to be evacuated. It was soooo clear right down to seeing lava. John Hawkesby was giving updates on the tv and sirens were going off. (this was in 1995....no eruption so far)
Baby #2 - Clear premonition-like dream that my grandpa died. I could see Mum and I organising his memorial service and even him lying in the coffin. It was perfectly, perfectly clear. (This was last year and as far as I know - mum spoke to him yesterday - he's still living it up on the sunny gold coast with the rest of the retired NZers)
Baby #3 - Hubby needed to go to Wellington for a 4 day work trip - for the week beforehand I had really clear visions of the plane crashing. I could see the footage like I was watching a news bulletin and dreamed about the people knocking on the door from the airline to tell me that he had been in the crash. Really, really vivid. (Hubby actually went and came back with no complaints other than the seats were uncomfortable and there's not enough leg room).

Preggy hormones mix-up your brain to give you extremely vivid dreams that you tend to be able to remember. The anxiety that you feel about the upcoming birth and all the 'what-ifs' join in with this and it is quite common for women to have yukky, disturbing dreams about loved ones or their babies not making it. I think I can even remember someone having the EXACT same dream as you before she went on to have a gorgeous, screaming wailing little daughter of her own. (I'll hunt out the post).

The dream doesn't mean anything, just that you're normal(ish). If you are really concerned, hop down the road to Maternity Associates and get Margaret to work for her money and put the doppler on your tummy for a while.

Frantic, I agree with the others. Maybe you should go see your midwife just so you can relax knowing that everything is ok.

yeah, well I am sure everythign is fine I feel her moving around today (thank goodness she is having an actie day not a quiet day) I guess it's just the fear that we will be so close to having her and everythign will be ready then something will happen.

It's silly.
I am going to stop worrying it is just normal nerves.
