QuoteReplyTopic: Cloth and holidays? Posted: 02 August 2010 at 9:49am
I'm going away for a couple of days with DD, bestie and her DD and we use cloth. I was wondering what you did when you went away? I don't really want to use disposables, as I don't have the money to buy any, and I just don't really like them. DD can get quite red with them too.
We are travelling to besties mums place so I don't need to spend any money (got to love those holidays right) but I don't think I'll have time to do washing, which I normally wouldn't wash them until 2-3days anyway I have a supply that lasts that long.
I am tempted to make sure that I have all my good ones washed for tomorrow and use the ones I don't like so much for her during the day tomorrow as we leave at 3pm and chuck them into a canvas shopping bag and in our suitcase. My only problem is what do I put them in to bring them back up? Do I take the bucket down as well? Put them in a couple of plastic bags? At least I know bestie has a big enough boot for her pram and our bags lol.
I take either a little bucket (with a good lid!) or a extra large wet bag. You can get good big PUL ones with a drawstring on trademe for $25. Hope that helps.
I do have a wet bag, but its only good for enough nappies for one day.
I decided that what I would do because we are only going down Tues arvo coming back Thurs arvo it's really only one day that we are away and when I get home I can chuck them in the wash. I will take her swim bag down and put an other plastic bag in to trap smells, avoid leakage etc and then just bring them home and wash. I'll use a sposie over night which I do occasionally anyway.
Besties doesn't use cloth she can't be bothered. All to their own.
Funny how I started using cloth because of the money thing and now the thought of using anything but cloth is absurd to me.
I went camping for three days and took my cloth nappies - I pre-stuffed and folded all the nappies, and stacked them ready to use in a bag. And I took a large white nappy bucket with me (about $7 from the warehouse for a 20litre I think). It sealed air tight with the lid on, I washed them all the instant I got home.
