Hi there everyone, i have never joined a forum before so sorry if i post this in the wrong area.
Just want to know if other mums to be have vomited for no reason and have found specks of blood in there vomit? my midwife said it is normal, plus the fact that i have had nothing to eat for nearly 4 hours but i was also taken to hospital with an inflamed gall bladder a few days ago. i just want to know if anyone else has had this same thing happen, and just so u know im 15 weeks pregnant.
any advice would be much appreciated. thanks heaps

I have gall stones and had a bad gall stone attack at 19 weeks (thought I was having a heart attack!) umm plan was to have it removed but being pregnant the surgeon changed her mind and then I got bumped off the list so unfortunately am still suffering... But pregnancy is known to cause a flare up of gallstones. Umm they should have given you a 'plan of attack' though about the gall bladder and if not I would go see your GP about it. Although being pregnant there isn't really anything they can do.
As for the vomiting, the blood could be if you have been vomiting a lot? But I wouldn't consider it 'normal' as I never had it and have never heard of it with anyone else either... Just my opinion.

Yeah my MW said that if i had been vomiting more than usual it will tear at my throat and my stomach lining, and i have been vomiting more than often, but only when i think about food lol.
Two of my family members r in hospital for gall stones a tthe moment, so it runs in the family. i will be going to see my GP this week for sure.
Thanks for replying is good to hear other pples views

Welcome to OhBaby Lilly88.
I can't help with the gall stones, but I hope you feel better soon. Morning sickness is the pits!

definitely see your doctor if you are concerned but yea if you are vomiting a lot it is normal. but it would be concerning if there was a lot of blood.
try and have liquid in your stomach if you can as it is better to throw up than nothing. If you can stomach them, cinnamon donuts are really good. they taste good going down and back up if necessary.

If you're vomiting often enough that there is blood in it from tearing at the back of your throat then its probably a good idea to get some antinausea tablets. Im not sure if your midwife can prescribe then but your GP can.
From a nursing perspective blood in vomit is normal and we would get the person medically reviewed.

hi ya,
i have had traces of blood in my vomit a lot of times while suffering ms.. i am not worried about it as its only a small amount and i assume its from all the irritation caused by vomiting and straining to vomit etc..
i notice it especially when i have an empty stomach and i have the horrible retching and nothing coming up but a bit of bile and saliva sort of thing..
go to your dr if you are worried, but if its just a tiny or trace amount i wouldnt stress too much about it unless it continues or increases.. but i'm not a dr just trying to put your mind at ease a little bit..

Hey lilly88,
Hope the MS is easing off a bit, but just for a bit of reassurance I vomitted throughout my whole last pregnancy and often had small amounts of blood showing also. Doctor and midwife weren't particularly concerned and I was perfectly fine otherwise.
I often found the blood was first thing in the morning with an empty stomach when it can be acid coming up.
Hope things improve for you!
