Topic: How do YOU deal with poo??? Posted: 25 August 2010 at 1:09pm |
Hi all, looking for some laundry advice!!
We use disposable nappies but every now and then Toby has an explosive nappy which leaks on to his clothes, usually a white singlet/bodysuit that he wears underneath his clothes.
I have tried everything to get these stains out. In the UK they have two types of laundry powder, bio and non-bio - a hot wash with bio powder always got the stains right out but I can't seem to find an equivalent here??
I have tried cold washes (with persil, napisan, BEE whitener and cold power) and hot washes (with persil, BEE whitener and napisan). have tried soaking for a few hours and overnight (in either napisan or BE whitener) but the stains are still there.
What do you ladies do about poo stains??? How do you wash cloth nappies?? Would appreciate ANY advice before I start throwing clothes out!!!
Thanks so much for any replies.
P :)

Yes I was gonna say the same thing. I don't do anything special with any clothes, just wash as per normal and then stick in the sun.
If you are having trouble finding sunny days then put aside the stained ones til the sun comes out.

I always soak in Napisan (we keep a bucket in the laundry sink with napisan in it), then put extra napisan in with the washing too. Normally works a treat.

Sun works a treat for our nappies. They are still stained when they come out of the machine, but always white as by the time they are dry. And this even works when I hang them on the clothes horse inside where the sun comes through.

SARD wonder soap. Amazing and cheap too! Just wet the stain and rub it on. It gets off any stain. You just get it from the supermarket.

I rinse them with cold water as soon as I can then use either Sard or Sunlight soap. Then I soak in Napisan

I've been using MCN's for about 5 months now and I totally didn't realise the power of the SUN until I started hanging them out with some light poo stains (after soaking and washing!) and like magic, they disappear most of the time!!
The only thing that still doesn't disappear is stupid black banana stains - anyone have any hints for this?!!

I soak in Napisan, but use Sunlight soap for the stubborn poo explosions on clothes.

This is what we do as well - it may take a few trips through the cycle to get rid of the marks (and a little sunshine certainly helps)

It doesn't have to be a super sunny day either. Even on overcast days it works for me.
Banana stains - I soak in napisan for 24hours and then throw them in the wash, hang outside and it seems to come out.

Those nasty radiated UV rays still get through the clouds and those are the ones that bleach out any stains (of the poo variety at least)

Ive never had any of dds clothes stain with poo, and she use to always leak when younger.
I always have a bucket of napisan in the laundry, so i just chuck stuff in to soak.
