...if DH moves overseas? he is moving to aussie soon and when i finish uni me and the kids will head over too but what happens in the meantime? anyone in a similar situation and know what happens?

I'm not sure about moving overseas but I would assume that if you're not working then they will cut it off. I'd give them a call and ask

I think you need to be working min 30hrs a week to qualify for it. As far as I know it is NZ & wont apply to him working in Oz.

You can probably still get the family tax credit part, just not the in-work tax credit part

I guess it depends how often and how much hubby will be sending back to support you and the wee ones as that will count as income, then they'll probably make the calculations from there as to how much you're entitled to.

its only short term. i am moving over with the kids after my exams which only makes it about 4 or 5 weeks later

I would imagine you will be eligible for the part year that you guys are here and you will receive that at the end of the tax year. Unless you receive them weekly in that case you would need to let them know as IRD would calculate the earnings and since no money is going through them you will have a huge tax bill
