Like i said i was one of the women who didnt get colostrum or milk. The only way to know is to talk to the midwives at the hospital once Jaxon is born and go from there if you dont have any

I wish - I leaked from 28 weeks with Maya and never stopped after I stopped feeding her!
But lots of women don't leak or have any colostrum before bubs is born - don't worry - once you have junior jaws doing his thing he'll soon get it going!

I leaked with Kiya, and fully expected to do the same with Josiah... nope! Not a bit! I didn't leak, drip or even have anything until after he was born... I've already had a few cases where Josiah's grizzles have made my tops a little damp so far, so things are definitly different for every woman and each pregnancy!

ha ha I was wondering the same - I look at my boobs in the shower and think "is there anything in there?"- crazy eh! Ah well, guess we just have to trust mother nature, everyone is different...

Yup I don't leak at all (until after the babe is born ) but have had no problems with feeding, and that's with size 12A I couldn't believe that I had nothing the day before, and yet when the baby was hungry, suddenly my body just knew what to do!

Hehehe Mrs Frantic....I do the same thing in the shower and I will fully admit to giving an expermental squeeze!
I'm sure my body will do what it needs to when the time comes...thinking about it, it's probably a good thing they are not leaking otherwise it would be just one more thing to worry about happening in public!! *lol*

My boobs have started leaking in the last couple of weeks. Mainly in the evenings, just prior to having my shower. Its clear liquid, looks just like water, forming in droplots on my nipples. Is this normal, and is it the start of milk? (I always thought milk would be white!)

No thats colostrum and around three days after bub is born your milk comes in. Colostrum has all you bub needs for hunger, protection from germies etc....

Kelly... I have a negative/positive story for ya. (I'm sure most of the women on here have heard it before!)
I had no colostrum before Han was born and only a very small amount once she was here. She was born at 9lbs 6oz, so quite a big babe and boy was she starving!!!
The first three days were absolute hell, having to put her on the breast even though there was nothing there and make sure she stayed on there for 5 minutes each side. (I'm pretty sure this was to stimulate hormones to make milk come in). I ended up giving her formula top-ups and the lactation consultant was really rude, thinking that I'd go straight to formula once I got home. But to her.
Finally on day 3 my milk came in and woahhhhh... like the other Kelly said - rock hard melons! Anyway, had no probs after that breastfeeding (though it took 2 weeks before I stopped cringing every time that little mouth came towards me) and I continued breastfeeding until 13.5 months.
In short, it's only a few women that have probs breastfeeding... sometimes it's hard but it will happen!

Yep, herewego, that's colostrum starting. My midwife said it starts clear & watery, turns yellowish then creamy and yellow later on, then after baby is here when your milk comes in, milky.
