Panda- No lol. For birtdays we'll spend around 300 per kid plus a party. Professional cakes on milestone birthdays eg one, 5, 13, 16 etc. For christmas the boys will get one joint present if it's suitable eg if they will both be able to use it so a tramp etc. Then they get a one big thing each, a medium thing each and a few little things each plus a santa sack.

No just for birthdays. Oliver this year is getting some more stuff for his trains. He has started collecting Thomas but I like the wooden stuff and it's more expensive but I think longer lasting which is good since my entire family thinks I'll only have boys! The set I want for him is 150 on sale. Then he's getting a Buzz Lightyear which is 100 off Ebay because it's not the stupid turbo glow buzz (which isn't even in the movie) and then he'll get an outfit. No idea what Emmett will be getting lol

Wow M2O sounds like I might want to be a kid in your family!!!

We are doing a family get-together but it will end up being large or at least the guest list will be as DH family is rather big. But we get people to bring a plate so the day is nice and easy.

PT is getting an Alphabet wall thing and a growth chart for   his wall.

Oh wow Mum2Ollie can I be your kid lol?

If Zac gets in to trains we want to collect the Thomas stuff too but will wait and see first!
I struggle to think what else you can get that is 'special' for a boy. My friends with girls are doing special jewellery or a lovely doll but boys are harder!

I wanted to get Oliver a silver money box engraved for his first but we were super broke at the time. My kids don't get any toys during the year at all. They get clothes as needed but that's all so I don't mind splurging on special occasions.

We don't have the money to splurge but we think of special ways to make things special also and if you guys can splurge that is great not to mention fun! There is a old guy here in Masterton that makes the thomas tracks, tunnels and all that stuff but the trains for a quater of the price! And its fantastic quality so if Damon gets into trains we will buy that stuff off him. At the moment we are trying to buy somthing small each month for Damon since no one has brought Damon any toys for gifts ever since he was a newborn so our toy collection is very small. Last week we got one of those push the button and a thing pops up then push it back down again and theres three or four on the toy. He loves that. He also loves the play school train I got him a couple of months ago but he was a bit young then. You pusj it along and it makes music and the balls pop out. So if we keep buying somthing each month then we will slowly get a collection and for his prezzies this year we will ask family for certin things if they ask what he wants

I think its perfect that our babies are born in the middle of the year so they get 6 months between the holidays!

Mum2Ollie that sounds like a good plan! Your probably saving money not buying through the year and that way you can go all out for their birthday

Nadia we didn't have many toys for Zac either and mostly got given clothes so I have bought a couple of toys here and there especially as he got older and outgrew the baby rattles that he did get when he was a newborn! I have bought a couple of nice fisher price toys second hand too because it was cheaper and they still look good

Enjoy your Anzac day Aroha! We are just having a nice lazy day here

Panda - I agree it is great that they are middle of the year birthdays!! It is great for spreading presents out.

Lovely day here, DH and PT went down to the RSA (30 sec from our house) to see the end of the national anthems and PT even waved (his new trick) goodbye to some random lady in a car. Anyway we made it through the day with two very short naps thank goodness DH was here to help entertain PT.

Zac is 10 months tomorrow I wish he didn't have to get older!

He has just started standing a little on his own too! This whole year has gone way too fast for my liking. I am definitely having another baby at some point. I thoroughly enjoyed the first year of his life

Though I do agree teething is a pain! Second tooth cut through last night. I can't believe we have so far to go! The cloth diapers I have can't keep up lol..

Panda - I know what you mean about them not getting older, but then there are other cool things that come with being older, like actually being able to tell us what they want when they want it instead of grunts and pointing. But I guess that comes with more tantrums as well

PT's 2nd molar is coming through the white tip is there so hopefully he will be in less pain from now for a little bit.

Another lovely day time to enjoy the sun

hey ladies,
can't believe we are almost at the one year mark! Emmett is just cutting his second top tooth at the moment. He is a major biter though which is no shock since he explores the world with his mouth. For discipline we say his name and no very firmly twice then if he does it a third time we move him away or distract him etc. If he is doing something dangerous eg. Oven or power sockets he gets a tap on his hand a no and moved away.

Nadia - our discipline is a learning curve for us!! We are trying to us NO and STOP only for immediate danger and distractions and 'why not try this' or 'I don't think that is a good idea' and a whole heap of other phrases for when they are doing stuff they shouldn't but isn't the end of the world.
Sometimes we also just let it go for a while and PT moves on, he just wants to explore and the more you try to stop him from exploring something the more he wants to do it!!
