Hi there, I have just spent $180 on a new luxury grotime cot mattress, only to find it has rusty springs inside and stinks of chemicals! I am very disappointed with it and am returning it

After doing a bit of research into mattresses, it looks like there are some pretty horrible chemicals used in manufacture, like fire retardants etc. Considering how long baby spends in the cot, I am thinking of spending a bit more and getting a natural or latex mattress.

Anyone done this? Any you recommend?

We got a organic woollen mattress from Nature Baby. Bedding was extremely important to us (as opposed to other baby items) so we were happy to pay the high cost. We were very happy with it and would totally recommend it.

This was actually a bassinet mattress but I am sure they do cot mattresses as well. We had to get ours made to fit as we used an old crib that had been handed down to us.

We got our mattress made by Innature and I totally rate it. Definitely something worth paying a bit more for IMO...

I can also recommend innature. great products. DS never spent much time in his cot however, but will be great for this next baby too.
We also bought a moses basket and mattress from them too and I LOVE it.

Another vote for InNature

We were given a cot second hand, so spent the money on an organic mattress and bedding.
