I am pretty certain that I want to get an Ergo this time around, I saw someone wearing one today and think it looks like exactly what I want. But....I am worried (as I always am) about whether it will fit me comfortably (I have huge boobies, and will be about a size 20/22 when bubs pops out). Also do I need to buy the insert if I want to use with a new baby? What is the difference betweent he Sport carrier and the normal one?

Thanks

Good questions MF! Wondering how it compares to the Manduca.

I would definitely recommend getting the insert, I got mine when DS was 4months and he was kinda just borderline on me being comfortable having him in it without....

I can't imagine being a bigger size would matter either-if you want I could extend the waist out and measure it for you?

I can't see the big boobies being a problem either-just imagine putting on a school bag, but only the outer piece-not the bit of material that sits against your back, make sense?! Lol! I think there would be HEAPS of room for big boobies

In my experience I have found a lot of curvier women prefer the Manduca, as the waist buckle extends further, and with the Ergo you have to buy a special extension if you want to make it longer.

You also don't have to buy a seperate insert with the Manduca, as it has a special in-built newborn 'harness' that just tucks away once baby is big enough and no longer needs it.

I don't know about the differences between the different types of Ergo, but I used to have one and just felt that DD2 wasn't as snug in it as she could be - although I do know it works great for some in this regard, and with my older daughter it was fine (though she was 20mos when I first purchased my original Ergo). I did end up trading in my Ergo and Moby to pay off a Manduca, and LOVE it, absolutely worth every cent.

Hi Mummyfreckle!

I had the Ergo when my daughter was younger and found it seriously frustrating for on my front, I was a size 18-20 with my ginormus boobies aswell and I just couldn't get it comfortable, I ended up going with a BabyHawk Mei Tai for my carrier but have since worked out that I would've been fine with my ergo for back carry and have used many SSC including, Manduca, Pikkolo, and Ergo and found the back carry great, My issue was Front Carrying with SSC because of where they sit and there isn't as much freedom with the straps it just didn't work with the boob issue where as the Mei Tai worked perfectly for front carry.

I hope that makes sense! So basically I find my babyhawk great because I can do both Front and Back but I am wanting to get a SSC soon because it just makes back carry that much easier

Did you know that you can hire the Ergo from Belly Beyond for 1 week - like a trial? We just hired one for a week and turned out that DH hated it so I'm glad we tried it first before buying!
