Topic: Xmas desert ideas Posted: 15 December 2010 at 8:29pm |
I can think of the normal things like:
Pavalova
Mince Pies
Xmas Cake
Triffel
But the mind pulls a blank from about there! We are going over to family members on xmas day and are arranging all the scrummy stuff, but yeah. I could use a little help!

I do home made brandy snap icecream. It's yummy with Christmas cake. Mars bar cheesecake? Though I don't have a recipe for that. Normal baked cheesecake with fresh berries and a berry sauce. Mini pavlovas or meringues served with cream and fresh berries (and maybe some marshmellows thrown in).

traffic light jelly!!!! yummm!!!
you can fancy up the basics. I once did a decadent black forest trifle, used choc sponge and booze in it and berries and chocolate and cream! mmmm!!! even my non trifle eating husband liked it - but i think that was the booze! or you could do tirimasu.

our favourite is ambrosia - whipped cream, berry yougart, chopped strawberries, and other berries, marshmellows, crushed meranges (spelling!) and some flakes, yummy!

Steamed pudding
Meringue nests
Brandy snaps
Summer fruit pudding
Profiteroles are just like eclairs hun, except they are small and round. They traditionally have custard as the filling, or can be made into 'cream puffs' by using cream instead. Do you have a good choux pastry recipe? Cos that's all you need.

emiloly - you can then fill them with creme patissiere - (can't spell it). it's like a cream/custard - NIIIIICE (and even better, easy to make). I think they made them on masterchef - but don't let that put you off.

Snowballs go down a treat at ours, or christmas cake.
I am doing trifle this year as it is always a family favourite

The pastry is really easy actually - I use foodbazaar lots, they have a really good data base of recipes with ratings etc.
My mum makes a peppermint pav, its all green and festive, yummy!
