Topic: Bump on the head Posted: 11 September 2006 at 8:56pm |
Mikey's just started getting more mobile and i keep forgetting what he's capable of. tonight he was in the bath and suddenly he grabbed the side of the bath and launched himself over the edge, head first onto the floor!!! i tried to grab for him but it was like trying to grab hold of a greasy sausage or something and he just slipped through my hands and banged his head on the floor.
i picked him up straight away and he cried for a bit but not too much so i don't think he was hurt badly or anything but i was shaking, i was so scared.
now he's got a big bruise on his forehead and people are going to think i'm such a bad mum. i feel so awful!!

Ah don't worry about it... wait until he's walking! hehehehe
Han has knocked her tooth out twice. Luckily only part way, so I was able to push it back in both times, but geez it scares the crap out of you huh? Especially when there is a crapload of blood

oh great, the things i have to look forward to. i can't wait.
but thanks for making me feel like it wasn't my fault, after it happened, DP rushed into the bathroom coz he heard the thump and the first thing he said was "what did you do!" not great for the overwhelming guilt already there.

I think you'll find we have all had the "bad mum" gene at least once...this week.
jake was crying the other day and I told him to harden up. About an hour later I notced a nasty cut on his chin - he'd actually hurt himself, and me being mean mum didn't give him any sympathy at all....
and then we can talk about the time I burnt him at three days old..
and when i nearly let him drown....
and when Jake sat on Taine when HE was three days old....
and when Taine got jammed behind the sofa yesterday...

OMG AHAHAHA that's so funny liz.
Ok I'm entering, I was trying to pull the carseat belt clasp out of the bottom of the capsule, I was in a hurry and getting impaitent and it finally flew out when I wasn't expecting it to and I wacked Olivia on the face, then that night she had her first bath in the big bath tub and Dale was swishing her about in the water and she twisted out of his arms into the tap and got a big red mark. I gave her pamol that night, and arnica and rescue remedy, then the next day it was her imm.'s and I told the nurse she just laughed it off. The next day I found out I was giving Olivia adult pamol!
I was crying for a day!!
That was a bad week!
Lucky she loves her mean and bad mummy and has a short memory!
Don't feel bad Ellabellame!!

Aw poor wee babe.. trying to cath slippery bath monsters is so hard, paris always at so still, and Ayja sounds the same as your little monkey - full of energy!
i have bumped my post called "most terrifying night of my life".. from when Ayja was 6 days old, when i posted after our pretty scary accident - to show you that no matter what happens, they are pretty bounceable... and also to reinforce the wonderful support the ladies here give.
oh and i thought that most of the ladies with new bubs might like to read and know that all of us have been through the most horrible sleepless nights at the hands of our newborns.. so hang in there it does get better... marginally.

Ella is this the first time this happened to you? If yes then you are one lucky mum.
Zaara fell off the changing table (I was crying for days)...she got over it in 2 min. The other time she rolled off the bed (I never knew she could roll...and still dont know how it happened) and the time I walked into the bath door (I forgot I left it open and walked straight onto it) I got hurt more than Zaara but she had a small reddish patch on forhead...oh and now that she is crawling she is managing to hurt her self every day!!
Please dont feel guilty! These things you just cant avoid. And Zaara is fine and Mikey will be too.
But hey welcome to the "I feel like a bad mom club" he he ha ha

Haha Han fell off the bed so many times when she was a little one Oops.
I always hurt my little monkey, luckily she doesn't hold it against me. I love that she doesn't blame me, she usually blames the thing that she hurt herself on!

Ditto what everyone else has said! Ella has had so many accidents and I have become a lifetime member of the 'feeling like a bad Mummy' club.
Also, don't worry about people seeing the bruise and thinking you're a bad parent for it. Once Ella got a huge bump on her head from falling on the garden steps and wore a wicked bruise for weeks. I just ignored any looks and explained to anyone brave enough to ask what had happened. Anyone who has had kids knows how quickly they can fall and will understand.

I didn't have a bad mummy experience but it was a bad godmummy experience....I accidently shut my goddaughters fingers in a door... I didn't realise she was hanging onto the frame where the hinges where and started to close the door....I felt awful because I simply hadn't noticed her!!!
But the others are right....I can understand how you must feel but you are far from a bad mum...these things do happen!!
*big hugs*

yeah i did find the pants, its such a cute lil suit! sebster is great, standing up all the time now and extremely proud of himself hehe. he's forever getting himself stuck in places, he crawled off and shut himself in the bathroom this morning, made a massive fuss but wouldnt let me in coz he was leaning against the door so i couldnt open it!
i wish the boys could be together more as they grow up aye, its a pity u live so far away
sebs got masses of hair now! and he's getting actual little curls in it! looks alot like his daddy did
