I just thought I would share a couple of things with you all that I have found good.

1. You know those fresh food feeders. The little mesh bag thingees which have a ring for bubs to hold onto. Well I didnt bother geting Alex one, now that he holds his food I didnt see the point. But I was in the shop and the guy who worked there did the salesman thing on me and it worked so I got one (sucker I know!!) So I filled it with some fruit salad and gave it to Alex and he just loves it. He sucks all the juice out and then mushes up the food. So I recommend them!!

2. I got really sick of Alex getting food all over his good new clothes. So I went out and bought some of those silly billyz bibs with the full arm and shirt bit. They are great and really stop his clothes getting dirty, but even though I bought 3 they are always in the wash (and at $10 each Im not buying any more)... so I can a brain wave.. I got a long sleeve t that is a size too big for him, put that over his clothes and voila clean clothes at the end of lunch. Fantastic and much cheaper than the bibs!!

So there we go, my 2 tips for the day!!!

Mum sent me one of those fresh food feeders for Zac and he loves it. When I take if off him to refill it he sometimes cries!

He had it on the compound bus the other day and everyone was commenting on it so Mum is bringing a few over for other ladies on the compound as they don't sell them over here so I totally recommend them as well!

Can someone explain to me a little bit more about how these fresh food feeders are supposed to work exactly? I have seen pictures and I only sort of get it.

They are mesh/muslin.. so you cut up fresh fruit etc, or grate it i always found good, and baby can suck and chew on it, the juice comes out, the fruit squishes out thru the little holes but you don't get baby biting of huge chunks and choking.   The idea has been around for years.. but somone thought up the idea of putting a handle on it and selling it for big bucks... Go to your local spotlight.. you can get a metre of double layer muslin for $1.75 cut it into squares about 20cm by 20cm.. leaving it double layered.. then cut some more long thing ties out of it too.. put the grated or cut fruit in the middle. bunch up the sides and tie it off with the ties you made.. do a few good knots and tuck under the ends. where it's tied baby uses as something to hold. does the same job and you just chuck it out once you're finished with it. We used to do it heaps in summer with plum and apricots etc cos they squish well. I think i got 2 metres when Paris was little and still had HEAPS over when Ayja was born. pretty good for $1.75
