Hey there,
Just wondering who has it?
Have you had to claim?
What company do you use?
Is it worth going for surgery only or a higher plan?
TIA! Since I don't have my BFP yet, our 2 cats are our kids, so thinking we should get insurance...

Yes, highly recommend it! We are through Ellenco. their website is www.petplan.co.nz. My cat has had two blocked bladders which was $1K a pop to treat and we got 80% of this back both times. I used to wonder whether it was worth it cos we hadn't claimed for anything major and then that happened and we realised how valuable it was.

We use Ellenco surgery plan for our dog. Haven't claimed on it yet but it's there if she needs any surgery. Worth the $15 a month for peace of mind IMO.
Our friend's dog broke its leg and I think it cost them around $4500. If that happened to our pooch we simply could not afford that kind of bill without insurance.

I've been thinking about this as well monkeys because we have 2 dogs and a cat and we seem to spend a lot of our time (and cash) at the vets! Will need to read into it more, thanks for the company recommendation

I think I am on the Ultra Plan, guess it depends on how you want to spend. For my cat I think it is about $320 a year approx on that plan but it does have one of the higher levels of cover and am not really wanting to go to a lower plan as he is getting on a bit now.
We have been with Ellenco for about 7 years, the premiums have gone up since we first joined, but yes they seem to be one of the cheapest as I look around at others every now and again. I would not have another pet now without insurance.

I have it 4 my ragdoll cat since he was a kitten 5yrs ago, havent had 2 claim on it yet, (& kinda hoping i never will) it costs us 25.50 a month, 4 the premium cover.
i really wish i had taken it out with my staffy as he was hit by a car & killed recently. & altho we could never 'replace' him, it would have been nice to have the money to get my daughter a 'new' friend as she misses our Diesel dog terribly.
so anyways, i highly reccomend it.
