Topic: best buys Posted: 11 October 2006 at 8:55pm |
with christmas coming up and I'm still up in the air about toys - what for you was the best toy buy and the worst toy buy -
for me, the best was a wooden hammer and peg set we got from the market in palmerston north - $10 and Jake spent hours on it
and..
bucket of duplo - Jake is now building stuff with this and loving it.
worst buy...
probably the soft toys...he has lots of neat toys I bought him and he's not really all that intersted. will give the odd one a hug and say "aww" and then, they get pushed out the window.

Like you Liz Zaara has loads of soft toys, I had some from my lovely dovey days that hubby gave me and I gave hubby. Zaara got given whole lot and she only likes selective....the rest are just there. Zaara likes pots, bottles, spoons etc....no toys as such. I am planning to buy her a block set or those big lego setfor Xmas. We'll see what she gets for her Birthday.

Yeah we dont really do anything with all the soft toys, they just sit in the toy hammock gathering dust which is a shame cos there are some really nice ones there.
Our best buy for Kobe was his playhouse oops i mean his workshed. our house is big enough that he can have it inside in the lounge and he is in it everyday.
Worst buy for us would have been the ride on hippo thing that gobbles up the peekaboo blocks. I think its been riden twice since we got it for his first christmas. I really should get around to selling it. He just has way to many ride on toys though thanks to grandma.

One of the best buys we got for Andrew was his dancing bandstand for christmas before he turn 1. He loved the music and the mat he sat on and when he moved the music would start up again. Also his thomas stuff.
Worst buys - a stupid car that is Gran brought him. He doesn't like big loud noises as his ears a very sensitive after having grommets put in. She thought it was a laugh scaring him with it. It is very much hidden away as he hates it.

Hmm, interesting that all of you who say soft toys are the worst buy have boys! As Ella loves soft toys, so maybe it is a girl thing.. but she is selective and has just discovered a few she has had for a while but not noticed. There is no way I'm buying any more though and I hope no one else gives her another teddy!
It all depends on age I guess..she will be 2.5 years at Christmas so I have got Ella some more craft things and I'm going to get a kite I saw at Farmers. Also some musical instruments - apparently Toy World has some good ones.

Maya has a million soft toys (and that's probably not an exaggeration!) up in a hammock in her room that she never plays with.
The Leappad was a good buy, and the ride-on car I bought from K-mart for her first Xmas for $30 that she still rides on now at 3 1/2.
Oh and of course Fussy Bubba...

Oh yeah, I didn't buy it - it was given to us by our neighbour - but Ella's 3 wheel pink bike is something she uses all the time.
