Topic: Charli Ava Buick Posted: 16 October 2006 at 3:03pm |
hey ladies
our latest addition has finally arrived! Charli Ava was born at 3.53am Tues 10 Oct by emergency c-section at chch women's, weighing 7pd 6oz, 50cms long. she seems so tiny!!
i'll post my birth story in the thread soon but here's a quick rundown....
had irregular, short contractions all night sunday and dismissed as being anything. still having them monday but they stopped mid morning. started up again a couple hours later. by 9.30pm was having more regular ones. went to hospital about 12.30 and was pushing by 2.30am. unfortunately, with every push i got a burning sensation across my tummy where my c-section scar is and charli's heartrate was dropping very low. we were told a c-section was needed and i was taken into theatre about 3.20am. had the spinal anaesthetic and tried to push her out with help of forceps but then her heartrate got too low. after alot of pulling and tugging for what seemed an eternity....she came out at 3.53am.
my uterus was torn with all the pulling and tugging and they had to call in a specialist to help repair it and i lost 3ltrs of blood. dean reckons he has never been so scared in all his life! i knew nothing of what was going on and wondered why his tears weren't so happy looking
i was in theatre for almost 2hrs and was finally in recovery just before 6am.
when charli was born and dean told me she was a girl, i had to ask him twice as we were both 100%sure we were having a boy
anyway, so much for that being a quick rundown!!!!
i'm still to empty pics onto the computer but will do that soon.

don't be scared roksana! and anyone else that's had a c-section. if it wasn't for charli's heartrate dropping and the fact she had her head in the wrong position, i probably would've ignored the pain, or at the very least asked for some gas, and pushed her out.
i'm still feeling quite upset about not getting my much desired VBAC, but these things cannot be planned and it was the safest thing for us both......well in hindsight, not me, just charli

I know Vanessa.....I have always thought (before I had Zaara) that if I have a C Section will my stomach pop open when I am pregnant again???
You have done soooo well tho. We are all very proud of you! And I agree with Nikki....I love that name! Charli and Ava go soooo well together!
