Topic: Clomid vs antidepressants Posted: 02 December 2011 at 8:12pm |
Hi
I hope someone can tell me if they have been in this position, or can help. I am planning on number 3, and will need to take clomid if we are to be successful (as we did with number 2). However I am on Citalopram (AD) and I am not sure if I can mix the two? I am off to the docs next week, but was hoping to hear experiences anyone may have had on both?!

I cant see why as they are completely different types off meds and dont work on the same hormones or anything like that.

Ok, So I went to the doctors and it looks like I have nothing to worry about, no clashing of drugs. So I have a specialist appointment on Tuesday to get my first round of clomid. Ekkk here I go again....
Also noticed I don't really fit in with any of the threads on here I am slightly older (not quite 40) trying for my third, with fertility help. If anyone is in a simular boat as me, then it would be great to hear from you...if not any encouraging comments would be great too

Glad the Drs appt went well. Good luck for the specialist appt.
You could join the clomid thread, and the waiting for ovulation, then the 2 week wait threads too- lots opf us swap between those 2 threads each month, or keep posting in them too.
Im almost 32, and been ttc #3 for 7 months. Have not been on antidepressants while preg, but was on them for ptsd and pnd with #1.

Thanks for that Kellz. I will give those threads a go. I just feel like a bit of an old girl, looking at the young ages of the ladies on here Including yourself!
I am also alittle nervous about being on AD while getting pregnant this time, but coming off them is not an option at this point and my doc reasures me it will be fine. I guess there is always guilt that you are doing the right thing.

Lol 32 is not that much younger than 39! Can totally understand feeling nervous about meds during preg,...and the guilt.

Hey KPete, I was on Citalopram and Clomid at the same time, and also stayed on Citalopram during my pregnancy and while BFing (still BFing). Totally understand your feelings of guilt about it. My baby is the most chilled out wee thing and I often wonder if it is because of the AD's but doctors reassure me it's not. I stayed on my ADs because I reasoned that a happy Mum would be the best thing for my baby and it has worked out fine, I'm glad I didn't attempt pregnancy and mummyhood without them!!
Hope you have an easy conception

Hey Frankie, Thanks you so much for your post. It is really good to hear that you did both and have a chilled baby :)and everytning worked out well. I agree a happy mum is the best thing, and I think I just need to keep telling myself that. I went and saw the specialist the other day for the first course of Clomid, and he said he has had a lot of ladies on AD while trying to concieve. I guess the next thing to focus on is getting pregnant now

Hey KPete, if you go down the list of the forums a bit under the "coping with infertility" section there is a clomid pill poppers thread, with awesome girls in there they really helped me alot!
