    Posted: 28 April 2012 at 5:03pm
My 5 month old has eczema and a friend of mine has told me to use the karicare HA formula, I have tried soy and goatmilk, goatsmilk didn't help his eczema and he wouldn't drink the soy. I brought a tin of the HA formula, but when I read the label it said not to be used if a baby has a diagnosed milk allergy, this made me confused as it is for babies at risk of allergy! Has anyone tried this formula on a baby with eczema? Or could someone tell me why you cannot use it with a baby that has a milk allergy? Thanks!

Your best bet is to ring the 0800 number on the tin to ask the dietician that works there, they should be able to help you.

HA has not had it's proteins completely removed like specialist formulas this is why it has the warning, it has has had the protein reduced so it might be helpful to your bub.

Cool thanks for that, I might ring the 0800 line and see what they say, just don't want it to upset his tum or anything! BUT I'm guessing it can't be as bad as the full cows milk formula he is on now.

No definitely won't be as bad as what he's on now. It'll be a good trial to see how he goes cause then you've got something to go to the GP/Paed with if you need to take it further & get specialist formula.

They usually like you to have tried Dairy & Soy before they'll prescribe something more specialised.
