Hi, I am planning on giving birth at CWH and transferring to either St Georges or Lincoln. Curious to hear of others experiences at either of these hospitals. Thanks.

I've been to Lincoln, am trying for St. Georges this time, depends on if I have a repeat section since St. Georges won't take you (or wouldn't in 2010) post c-section.

Lincoln is small and mellow, the food is pretty good. Not hospital food, actual cooked meals on plates. Unless it's busy at Lincoln you should have your own room, though the showers and toilets are not ensuite. I think all rooms are private at St. Georges. The only slightly odd thing about Lincoln is if someone gives birth there...it's pretty audible. And if they use the birthing pool the pipes kind of rattle and groan.

I really loved Lincoln, all midwives( except one) were really lovely and took baby so I could sleep. I would go back there with my next one for sure.

I birthed and stayed at St.Georges. That was in 2010, though, and the building has changed (after the earthquake). Rooms were nice and back then definitely all single rooms, assume that the same applies. Good food, good staff. Lots of help available if needed (was baby number 2 for me though so I think 1st time mums probably get the priority) and they were happy to show me how to bath baby etc if required. Very positive experience . Only downside is that you aren't allowed to take baby outside of the room unless in the bassinett. This probably applies at most places though.
