Topic: The ongoing physical stress of miscarriage Posted: 15 September 2012 at 1:48pm |
Hey there, Just wondering what other ladies experienced physically, post miscarriage? (Apart from the obvious!) I have found my body has returned a little bit to post-preganancy but my boobs have changed completely. So while my maternity bras are now too big, all my other bras are too small. I kind of feel like I have a post baby body! Everything is still soft and squishy but the kick in the guts is no baby to qualify it! That really sucks. The other thing that's changed is my skin on my hands and feet. They are really dry and peeling. I can't seem to moisturise enough. Has anyone else found this? I want to start trying again but I really wanted to be a bit more like my old physical self first, not this in limbo one!

Have you had your pregnancy hormone levels checked to make sure thay have returned to pre-pregnancy state yet? Best to get them checked before ttc again. The dry skin may just be the time of year- certainly is for me at the moment- have never noticed it to ba a pregnancy, post pregnancy or post mc thing.
My body took a good 6 weeks to return to pre-preg state- even tho I got af back on day 32 after the mc. My tummy still felt puffy and not compeltely deflated til then. My boobs hadnt changed much at all tho and I didnt notice anything after the mc with them either- but Ive bf for 3 years ( in total) and it was my 3rd pregnancy- my boobs did change heaps with my first pregnancy tho!
I had gained a few kg when preg,..then didnt loss it after the mc before becoming preg again,...but then so far havent gained any weight this pregnancy- well hadnt at my last mw appt 2 weeks ago anyway,....weird!

Thanks Kellz, Yes I think I will go get a blood test because I keep having a few symptoms and panic thinking I'm pg again! Although I would like to be pg again, I would like to wait till I'm feeling more back to normal. I have gained weight from the pg that I haven't lost yet too. Went shopping today and got a really good moisturiser and some new clothes to see me through while I lose a bit of weight. New clothes always make me feel better.

Yeah I did the same after my mc too- went and got some really nice bra and undie sets ( I had been breastfeeding for 2 years right up til I got preg so had only had maternity bras!) and some clothes.
I was a given a form from the hospital to get bloods checked 4 weeks after the mc,...ring your GP office and ask them to do a form for you. I would get your iron and full blood count done at the same time too - then u will know what your iron and haemoglobin levels are after the mc too- you want to be at your best before egtting preg again as your body uses a lot of iron while your preg, and the levels may be low as your body uses your iron stores to make new blood cells- like after the mc.
