Hi everyone,

Just a note to say thanks to everyone who has shared their m/c stories here and also stories about how you have grieved and moved on, and positive stories too!

They have all been so helpful to read as I found myself with a missed miscarriage about 10 days ago. Baby was only about 6+1 when it should have been 8+4.

After a few days I realized that waiting for a natural m/c was doing my head in and so with the help of my very supportive GP I got a referral to the specialist clinic at Greenlane and opted for a D&C, which I had yesterday. I probably would have preferred to go the medical way but in the end it seemed so hard to predict the timing and therefore manage my care and that of my 2 yr old daughter while at home! Imagining coping with all that blood and pain with a bouncy toddler wasn't very appealing!

The D&C went well and the Greenlane people were GREAT, couldn't have asked for better care. Recovery (now on Day 2 so early days yet) has not been too bad. I feel very sad, but that is a vast improvement on the awfulness of waiting and knowing baby was gone but still having all the symptoms of pregnancy!

Anyway, you've all helped me with decision-making this week and also with ideas about how to take time for grieving and look forward to the future with hope.

Bookworm I'm so sorry that this happened to you It's tragic and heartbreaking to go through. I'm glad your care has gone well, talking to friends I've found that people's experiences vary widely. On thing I found in the aftermath of my miscarriage is that the word 'miscarriage' is like a password to a secret society. You use it an suddenly people are telling you about experiences you never knew they had. I hope you have people around you to share your grief with.
