Hay girls,

This is my first post :)
I am so happy, and so afraid... my life is about to change forever!

My baby is due 26th of April 2014.... I am 8 weeks 1 day, so far everything seems to be progressing normally. My last pregnancy was 5 years ago and ended in miscarriage, I feel very scared that this may happen again... I am going for my first scan in 4 days, hoping to hear a little heartbeat, I think this will calm my worry.

Feeling very paranoid about getting the abnormality screening as well... who else is going ahead with this, it seems unnecessary to me, but my partner is encouraging me to go ahead... what to do??

Amber

Hi Amber

I am going to my scan in the next few weeks for the abnormality testing due to my increased risk because of my age and never had to with my previous pregnancies , I am very nervous about this and I'm a stresser so that doesn't help at all and the wait till 12 weeks has made things worse . But I have to stay positive and know that I've had 3 healthy babies already . If I had been offered with my other pregnancies I would have done it just to know everything was ok. Don't worry so much a lot of other mums are also choosing to do this too.

Hi ladies,

I am too having my NT scan in early October. Would rather know that everything is all OK right from the outset. Be awesome to see the baby all grown too! We have to pay $60 up here, so annoying considering its free elsewhere but oh well!

Just wondering if any of you have or are considering dyin your hair?? I am so overdue and have crazy re growth but thought I'd wait for the first 12 weeks whilst all the major developments are going on. Be keen to hear what you guys have done.

Have a nice weekend 😄

12 and 20 week scans cost in Chch too.. I know they're 30 in Hamilton for one of the places as well... I don't know of anywhere that still does them for free, unless you go through the hospital. Was free with DD in 2011... Our dating scan was free though.

We did both of the scans with DD, and will do them again with peanut. To us, it's an important thing to do, as they can pick up if anything is wrong (especially the 20 wk one). Some abnormalities that are picked up can be fixed while still in the womb, or they can have specialists available as soon as bubs is born, and can whisk them off. ALso if anything isn't right, ir allows you to prepare mentally, and for the life change before bubs comes along. But that's just how DF and I feel, I know others are different, and it's completely up to you. You can have the 12 week scan without them doing the screening, just don't go for the blood test.

Totally agree with you Emma.

Janice for me it's $60 to do scan 😢 in Lower Hutt they are either $40 or a new place has just been opened that do it for free so might get my next one done at home. Kinda stink that it's so expensive...

Hmm my hair is blonde so bleach is required... Yikes. It's just streaks thought so doesn't sit on my scalp or if it does its a very small amount.

Yeah, Upper Hutt at the moment - will be building in the Wairarapa soon but house won't be ready until after baby is born So all my care will be in the Hutt.

Are there any April baby mamas in the Wairarapa?

Hi Ladies, very excited that baby number 2 will be due around 5th April. We just had our 12 week scan (yay nice to know there is something growing in there;) Am I able to get the password and join the secret forum please? Ps Horizon Radiology in Wellington do all pregnancy scans free, you get a dvd with it all recorded.
