    Posted: 13 November 2006 at 7:16pm
I feel really hungry almost all the time but I can never eat much because I feel full to the point of bursting. It's starting to really bug me. I'm always very tired and part of that reason is that I'm not eating enough.

Any ideas on how to combat this? I've tried eating far more regularly but less amounts and I've tried spacing it out so that I can eat more but nothing seems to work. Tried different types of food. But nothing is working.. I usually just end up feeling hungry and nauseated

lol welcome to my world, I seem to eat all day long, my mw told me the other day to eat at least every 2 hours, however I don't seem to go 20 mins without eating. I think the idea is to eat smaller amounts more regularly. Don't know if this is any help to you. Also try Milkshakes as they seem to fill me up when I feel really hungry.

milkshakes are an enemy to me at the moment... this is gonna sound a lil strange but heres why..

milkshakes are full with air, if i get any serious amount of air in my tummy i feel so sick and nasty. but i dont drink fizzy and im not a boy lol so i dont really know how to make myself burp when i need to so i cant get rid of it. most kids learn it cos they are dirty boys lol or cos they drank fizzy which made them burp.

Actually now you mention that I was the same at the same stage as you, full of air and sooo bloated, lol so feel for you in that sense. What about Soda water for that... It was good for me...some fizz without the sugars, to help you burp, I can't make myself burp either, and used to tap my chest a bit which sometimes helped, must of looked like an idiot

I went through the same with both pregnancies Stacey. Sometimes you can feel really hungry but it's your body screaming out for water cos it's thirsty.. but you just eat, and it does nothing but make you sick. I used to love making home made milkshakes, even though half the time they ended up making me throw up not too long afterwards... i never learnt. lol

I got some of the vitafresh sachet juice.. i think you can get melon or strawberry.. and they aren't sickly sweet icky flavours.. i would make them up about half to three quaters strength and put them in mini pump bottles in the freezer.. and would have one of them i took with me. Cos when i drunk water it would make me feel all full and icky too.. but this way, i could only drink as much as had melted, and it was just enough to be yummy, and stop me feeling hungry all the time and stop me getting dehydrated.

hope that helps. (can't beleive you are 9 weeks already!)

Make a smoothie with fruit, juice and powder. No milk which might make it easier to drink.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

hailstones - DH finds it absolutely fascinating (especially being a boy) that I can't burp and is enjoying trying to "teach" me how to. And our puppy gets all hyper when he hears me burp now lol

But im not sure about the soda water. I actually really dislike the bubbles in my mouth - i'm strange i know - i dont drink bubbly, fizzy, ginger ale, ginger beer, nothing with bubbles.

and....i went through two boxes of popsicles...great when you are hungry / thirsty but cant eat...esp the cola raspberry ones in boxes at mad butcher at moment...i find the fruity ones make me even thirstier...

All I can suggest is eating 2-hourly. In my first trimester this time I got it particularly bad, only slightly different: I feel so full that I don't feel hungry at all but my body is crying out for food! You will need to keep your fluids up especially now that it is getting warmer, I would suggest having a drink of water and trying something like half a sandwich every couple of hours.

For me, all I can say is thank goodness for chocolate milk - it settles me down and quells hunger pains when I am too full to eat. I know for me it isn't water, because I am drinking tonnes of the stuff. I also find that a diet bundaberg lemon lime and bitters (drinking one right now) helps me get the burps up, which is a relief!

I'm a second vote for the soda water. I never drink fizzy drinks normally either; however, the soda water has been fantastic during the past few weeks. I've actually progressed to 'with a twist of lemon' now - a little bit of flavour, but nowhere near as sweet as lemonade etc. It really does help you burp! Maybe try leaving the cap off for a while before drinking so it's not quite so fizzy.
