Hi everyone. Sorry about the TMI but I'm 3 weeks postpartum and I've had a look down there for the first time and it looks terrible, things bulging like I've had a prolapse. I will get it checked out obviously but I'm wondering who has tried pelvic floor weights and do they work and pull everything back up into place?! I'm so worried that I'm ruined down there :(

Nothing is TMI after birth!

I hope someone can help. I'd like to hear thoughts from others that have been there.

I am 13 months since birth and am still not right. It is best you get checked out. I was checked out but they could only recommend surgery and since I want another baby and can manage to have sex, they advised I finish having children first.

Otherwise if I get fixed now and then get 'ruined' again I could end up with even more scar tissue I guess.

It's horrible though. I can't go a day without it reminding me or inconveniencing me or paining me. We've been trying to have another baby since and have got pregnant twice and lost them both. If I had known how long I'd have to live with this between pregnancies I may of just opted for the surgery right away! (although they will not operate until 6 months after birth as it is protocol to let things 'settle' first).

Hi ladies, I'm sorry to hear of your symptoms. Maybe I can give you some hope?
My baby is now 16 months old and I too suffered a prolapse following a traumatic birth, despite doing my pelvic floor exercises throughout pregnancy. While I found the news absolutely devastating initially and the symptoms terrible (visual bulging outside, very poor bladder control and heavy dragging sensation) I have to say that things have much improved.
I did see a gyny who referred me to a hospital physio who got me doing more pelvic floor exercises. It was explained that while breastfeeding, the ligaments remain quite supple, and while it did gradually did improve over time, since I stopped breastfeeding 3 months ago, it has got much better.
My biggest piece of advice is don't return to high impact exercise too soon. Unfort I started running again only 2 months after birth and I believe this caused me further damage. I have now chosen to give up running and indoor netball and have invested in a cross trainer.
Give yourself and your body time, and when things seem just awful, look at the precious bundle that your amazing body gave you
Big hugs xx
