ok have been trying to get a gf onto this site but bit hard for her at work so thought we would brainstorm and see if i can pass info onto her..
she is about 8 weeks pg - had two scans already cause she has been bleeding. This is the problem = bleeding, not clotting, cramping, goes through (TMI sorry) 3 pads a day easy, scan shows yolk sak, and baby, all in right place. She had scan Fri again cause was still bleeding...has been for about three weeks now. Says that there is a heartbeat.
Any ideas what it could be after this long and so heavy. It is red blood (she tells me!).
She is so worried about MC but three weeks to do it im not sure? Poss a twin MC and one still there? But still bleeding???
Help - if anyone on here has ideas for her before she goes back to doc and for another scan...i think she is over bleeding and wants to know if she might be ok or not???

I bled for 5 weeks pretty much non-stop with this pregnancy from 4 1/2- 9 1/2 weeks. I had anything from brown spotting to heavy (fill a pad in an hour) bleeding. I had a scan at 6 weeks and baby was fine and another at 9 weeks and baby was stil fine- I have another scan on Monday but bleeding has stopped for the past 2 and a bit weeks so I am pretty sure everything is still fine. They can't find any reason for my bleeding but it is not harming the baby. It certainly isn't normal but lots of women do bleed in early pregnancy and go on to have perfectly healthy babies- its a good sign that her bub seems to be doing fine.
Can't really give you any answers as to why she is bleeding- just wanted to let you know that you can bleed and still be ok

I had some bleeding too - not as heavy and for as long but still. My doc even gave me the dreaded 'miscarriage is quite common' talk before sending me in for a scan. Well that was many weeks ago now - the bleeding stopped completely at around wk 13-14 (can't quite remember). We've had scans then and since and nothing has shown as to why I was bleeding - baby is growing fine and everything is in the right place. As my doc said, sometimes they just have no idea why it happens. Hope everything turns out OK for your friend - I think it's possible to bleed and be OK.

I menstrated through the first half of my pregnancy with Kiya. I got my period on time, and as expected, for the first 4 months... part of the reason I didn't find out I was going to have her until 18-20 weeks!

I bled with Josiah from 6 weeks (started the day after the postive test!) until around 16-18 weeks. It was mostly bright red, and there were only clots right at the start. I had scans at 7, 11 and 12 weeks which all showed the baby to be fine and there were no problems with the placenta or any of my internal organs. Best guess in my case was a hormone deficiency meaning I wasn't retaining the lining properly but my body kept renewing it.

This time round, I haven't even had the period this pregnancy is dated from! Just goes to show you... just because your friend has unexplained bleeding this time, doesn't mean it will happen again.

I bleed at 8 weeks and though not heavy it was around for few days. Then it stopped and I bled again at 10 weeks..this time it was a bit heavier and stayed around for longer, finally it stopped and then......at 18 weeks I was rushed to the hospital as I was bleeding sooooo heavily....it was like some one left the tap open....that tooo stuck around for a week and a half but not as heavy!!!

They don’t know why this happens, but they told me that as you body is going thru major changes and is stretching to accommodate the bub the small blood vessels pop and blood get accumulated in a pouch. Some bodies absorb this blood but some don’t and that makes its way down that way......

Though I never bleed again, but scans showed that there was a pouch of blood there till I was 25-28 weeks. We were told no relations until it is completely gone!!

Zaara is here safe and sound!! The only thing that is a bit of a worry is that she is having cramps too...but if the scans are A OK then nothing to worry I say!

Sorry about the novel!

thanks all - i have sent her your comments..and she was so pleased to read them all....she is prettylost not knowing what is happening.
Her next scan is end of next week. She will be close to 10 weeks then. Who knows? I am worried for her cause apparently the yolk sak is not the right size so next scan could be one that gives it all away...or all could be fine who knows...will keep you posted.
