Topic: Pin-pricks?? Posted: 19 November 2006 at 3:52pm |
I have just noticed a whole lot of little pin-prick size red dots on my thighs. Kinda looks like someone has pricked me all over with a pin and that's the leavings - but the skin isn't actually pierced. I can see little dots of blood through my skin. Anyone else had this? What are they all about????

I've had that before.. if I get a whole bunch in the same general area it's usually that my skin has been under stress, enough for a tiny blood vessel to burst but not enough to cause a proper bruise

my friend had that when she was pregnant, she also had quite high blood pressure so her midwife got her into the hospital and monitored the baby for a while but everything was fine. i'd definitely ask your mw about it, it's probably nothing, but better safe than sorry.

Hmmm I haven't had high blood pressure all pregnancy (actually ever), I thought it might have something to do with extra blood flow being pregnant (32 wks)? Stacey, I guess it does look a bit like that, a little like lovebites but they are all scattered like pimples do, no clusters.
Baysmum I'm embarrassed to say that I have only shaved that far about 5 times ever! *blush* certainly not recently - it's not as ugly as it sounds, I simply don't grow hair above my knees.

i have those and had some before i was pregnant too...they are like little red dots under the skin spread all over my tummy mainly...we never found out what they were...doc had no idea...mum suggested skurvy - but i think that was just to make me eat my veges (i hate them!) ...but having said that i think it could be due to a deficiency in my diet due to not eating greens etc....
while they are doing nothing i have just left them alone...they dont break the skin or anything and eithr disappear or more form...

I seem to have them too, all over really but particularly on my arms and chest at the moment. Being as lax as I usually am I put them down to being pregnant though so can't be more helpful than that. Probably should ask next time i see Midwife. My BP is normal (100/60) and I still have them

I wonder if it's to do with stretching then? Do you think so?

i had some after i had lost weight (27 kilos that time) so no stretching there. My blood pressure is pretty good - not high. I do think it is a deficiency of some kind for me...mine basically go from pelvic area up to chest area...but can mainly only be seen from close up

I've always had a couple on my chest, but since being pregnant have quite a few more on my chest and tummy. No idea why!!
I've shown the doc before and she didn't have any brilliant solutions either...
