Topic: Does anyone like the mini pill?? Posted: 25 November 2006 at 6:45pm |
I have heard alot of bad stories about the mini pill but was just wondering of anyone actually liked it and it suited them?? I have just started taking it as I can't have the normal pill due to blood clotting issues, don't like the injection and my doc said an IUD wouldn't suit me so the mini pill it is. Just after some "good" stories I guess!!

Before TTC I was put on the mini pill and all the ones I went on didn't agree with me and I found that I was too slack in taking it at the same time everyday. If you can get one that works for you though and you are good at remembering to take it it will work fine. The mini pill is what I was on when I had my miscarriage so obviously less effective!

Yes... Definitely remember to take it see my ticker for what could potentially happen if you don't take it religiously!!!!! hehehehe
I'm on it again now, and I didn't have any probs on it prior to getting preg, but now my cycles a bit warped and I'm getting break through bleeds and all sorts so I don't really know what's going on there.
I guess everybody's body will take it differently though.

i've always been on the minipill due to blood clotting also and have never had any probs. i didn't always take it at the same time of the day and never fell preggers, and when i did come off it when TTC, i was preggers within the first 2wks of trying with both kids
i'm taken femulen again (when i can start) and had no probs

You know how with the normal pill you start it for the first time on the first day of your cycle? Well I'm on the minipill now (Noriday) and of course, don't yet have a cycle, so I just started it from the top of the pack... but reading your comment, Vanessa, I'm wondering if I was meant to wait until my period came back to know when to start the minipill. I don't have a great deal of faith in the advice the chemist gave me on it... when I asked how long I have to take it before it'll take effect, he said "ummmm.... (then made a really obvious guess) maybe 2 weeks? Maybe a month? But hang on, doesn't breastfeeding work as a contraception too?"!!! Oh dear

I just started to take noriday to my midwife said to start taking it even though I haven't got my period yet in the instructions it says to take other precautions for the first two weeks aswell eg condoms.

My midwife prescribed Noriday too, haven't picked up the script yet. I had no issues with the mini pill last time (I was on Femulen then) other than that no one mentioned that if you take antibiotics and 'forget' to take the Pill then you might end up with a Maya...

I was told 1 month to be on the safe side, and that was starting at any time.
Guess I am one of the weird ones that didn't do well on it, but then the pill didn't work well for me either!
