Topic: The Week from H*ll......... Posted: 19 December 2006 at 10:03am |
Emma Rose has an ear infection, and wants to be held ALL THE TIME. We're looking after BIL and SIL's dog for a month while they are overseas, and this morning we woke up to find that their dog had pulled all the rubbish out of the bin, and I mean ALL the rubbish. Just as we finished cleaning it up and mopping the kitchen floor (at 7am), we discovered that she'd gotten into the Christmas presents and was chewing up the present for OUR dog. I'm supposed to bake Christmas cookies for a friend who is in Australia getting radiation for breast cancer, and who is coming back in three days. AND I'm putting on Christmas dinner for the family -- 14 people -- and two people just rang asking if they can bring MORE people along. I've just jumped on here for two minutes to pop my head in and see how things are, and now my baby is screaming again, so I can't even jump in the shower after signing off!!!
Anyone else having the week from hell? If I wasn't breastfeeding, I think I'd be into the booze already today!!!!!

Hugs Katherine, I can soooo relate - except multiply the screaming baby by two and chuck in a screaming three year old I keep trying to sell them on Trade Me but there's no category for Gremlins.
Hang on in there, I live by the theory that it MUST get easier - and if you have to leave Emma Rose in the cot while you have a shower it won't do her any harm. As long as she has had her pamol, has a clean nappy and a full belly she will be ok, and you need the time out!

Is your DD on medication? It sounds like a little pain relief would go a long way in your house at the moment.... no not for you
As for additional guests, that's pretty stressful considering you don't know how the dog or DD will be by just next week - so my suggestion would be to go back to whoever asked and say "sure you can come but would you be able to bring...." either you need something made (like a decorated pav) or maybe a couple of wines to help out on expenses.
Ear infections are often caused by colds. Keep your Vit C up and take it easy if you can!!

Kathrine, I feel the strees!!!, thank goodness I am not looking after anyones pets, and our xmas dinner is only for our family(phew) but have had screaming baby since Saturday, usually the girls are really great but Anastasia has had temps since fri night not really huge and we have been able to manage them with pamol when its really bad but any sort of sleep pattern is out the window. I'm also still b/f so the comfort thing is really up there for bubs.
All come to a head last night, Ashlyns temp shot up, she hates medicine of any sort so had to bribe her with lemonade, wouldnt drink milk, got close to her with milk and she started gagging (not going to force that one) and then Tazzy wouldn't settle so was with her most of the night in her room, thank goodness for spare bed!! Then come this morning Ashlyn almost back to normal yay, changing Tazzy and found the SPOTS!! all makes sense now we had the same thing bout 8 weeks ago with Ashlyn and same sort of time frame. Didnt go to Dr as ist a 1/2hr drive each way and she is at least eating some food again so not as much demand on me and I have been able to put her down a bit today and she is asleep now so thats where I'm heading.
Sorry for hijacking the thread!!! but now feel better having told someone. I hope Emma Rose gets better soon
