Topic: Sleep,Feeds,Bed, Wind.... Posted: 06 January 2007 at 9:13pm |
Hello All
Blake is coming up 5months now.
Just wondering what your babies that are close to that age do...
With solids - how much? when? What?
Sleep? During day? What time is bed? Also are they still having a night feed?
WIND...Do your babies get wind and fart heaps at night then settle after a bit of relaxation techniques???
Just interesting to know.
Thanks Heaps :o)

I know Erin is closer to six months, but I'll try and remember what we did about a month ago !
We started her with just a few teaspoons of fruit with dinner a couple of days before she hit four months, and that went down a treat. Have just now moved up to some of the stage two watties stuff, but she's not so keen on it yet (spits it out !).
Her sleeps during the day were almost the same as they are now, just a bit longer:
7am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm and 10pm - which eventually became 9:30pm, and then got dropped altogether.
Aaaaaaaanyway, Erin has never really had any major issues with wind... from about three and a half months we just had to sit her up and give her a couple of gentle pats on the back, and up it would come. Now we just sit her up and wait LOL

With solids - how much? when? What?
i havent started Kayla on solids yet...
Sleep? During day? What time is bed? Also are they still having a night feed?
sleep- during the day she has a sleep between every feed still ranging from about 1/2 hour to an hour usually although sometimes longer. her last feed everynight is at 6.30pm after a bath bed before 7pm and she wakes 6am every morning for a feed. she often wakes during the night but settles with her dummy or herself.
WIND...Do your babies get wind and fart heaps at night then settle after a bit of relaxation techniques???
kayla does still do the odd burp, although i dont burp her myself anymore she does it all herself, the odd time when she needs it.
hope that helps a little bit kelly.
kayla has gotten into a great routine of feeding 6am, 9am, 12pm, 3pm and then 6.30pm (sometimes on the half hour rather than the o'clock!) she did it herself too.

Bombshell - Erin was only breastfed for the first four weeks, she is fully bottlefed now plus three meals of solids a day.

Alyssa is just over 5 months old now so it looks like we fall into the category :).
With solids - how much? when? What?
I haven't started her on solids yet and she is fully breastfed. I will be starting solids in another week or so as she is showing signs she is definitely ready for them now, but I want to wait until after she has settled down after the next lot of immunisations being done next week. I will be starting on farex and go from there..
Sleep? During day? What time is bed? Also are they still having a night feed?
Alyssa still has naps during the day but they are definitely shorter than they used to be (1/2 hour to 1 hour at a time). On a normal day she will have naps around 9 or 10am, then 12 or 1pm then 4 or 5 pm then at night she sleeps straight through from 9pm to 7am (so no night feeds).
WIND...Do your babies get wind and fart heaps at night then settle after a bit of relaxation techniques???
Yes, Alyssa has always had really bad wind in terms of always needing a really good burping before she will settle down. It used to be really difficult to burp her until she got to about 3 months and it's much easier now but she still always has wind. She lets the farts rip every now and again but I never notice them in her sleep or anything :)

Caitlin is almost 6 months old, but isn't doing much that is that different from last month.
With solids - how much? when? What?
She started solids at just over 3 1/2 months due to her "output" issues. She started with a teaspoon of fruit or veg (Watties Stage 1) at her 12pm bottle and we increased from there, Plunket say that when you get up to 6 teaspoons, add another meal time. Caitlin is now up to 3 solids feeds a day with all of her bottles other than the 8pm bedtime one (we're about to make that her 7.30pm bottle to see if she goes to bed earlier as she has started to get a bit grizzley in the evenings which is totally out of character for her, so we're assuming she's tired (by the tired signs etc).
Sleep? During day? What time is bed? Also are they still having a night feed?
She hasn't woken for a night feed since she was started on formula (from 2 months old). She wakes around 7.30am and is happy to lie there and "sing" to herself (SO CUTE!) 8am feed is bottle & solids then she goes back to sleep for at least 1 1/2 hours, usually 2 hours though. She then wakes at around 11, has playtime then 12pm bottle and solids, has a nap at around 1pm for an hour. Playtime until 4pm, then bottle and solids again. She then has about 1/2 around 5pm. Bedtime is after her 8pm bottle, we get her ready for bed before sitting down to feed her.
WIND...Do your babies get wind and fart heaps at night then settle after a bit of relaxation techniques???
Caitlin is shocking with bringing up her wind, has been on Infacol pretty much her whole life, so we always wind her until she burps. We are now starting to ween her off it as she spends most of her awake time sitting up now and often burps by herself later even through we burped her after her feed. We are aiming to only use it in her bedtime bottle[/QUOTE]

With Solids Mya is still fully breast fed but as she is becoming more active she is starting to show signs that she is ready for a bit more so in the next couple of weeks we will be starting solids. i will let you no how we get on!
SleepBed time is 9pm, wakes between 4&6 for a feed and then back to bed till 8.30.but During the day sleep just doesnt happen. Shes a cat napper catching 5-15 min naps here and there (usually when in the car or just after a good feed) In the past week though she has been feed napping for up to 2 hours at a time (where she sits on the breast eating and sleeping at the same time im not sure how many babies actually do this. So once school hols are over and we are back in routine we will be trying to introduce mid day naps.
Wind Mya has always been very easy in this respect, when she was young all we had to do was sit her up and give a couple of pats on the back, now all we do is stand her up and shell burp when shes ready :)
