It takes them a while to get used to sitting with nothing under them. Try sitting her on the potty (with the potty her feet can reach the floor), keep one hand on her so she feels secure, read her a story, and then regardless of whether anything is done, get her off after that. Small but steady positive steps really are the key at the beginning. Until she can get over the paranoia, she will probably hold everything in - tight! When I started TTing Hannah, I used to ignore every third "poos" call so she would get it done, cause otherwise she was just anxiously holding on and getting constipated

I think you are all going to hate me, but my boy has partially TT'd himself! I let him run around in the nuddie for weeks while it was warm & he used to watch us go to the loo....then one day he runs off, a couple of minutes later I hear the toilet flush and he comes running back & announces "I done wees!!", I didn't actually believe him but told him he had done a brilliant job. Anyway, next time he went running off to the loo I followed him & I couldn't believe it! He climbed up (monkey style) up onto the toilet, squat down & peed into the toilet. No potty, not kiddy seat, nothing. That was 3 weeks ago now I think? He still goes & has even done poos in there all by himself without me having to remind him or anything. I usually get a call following #2's for me to wipe for him (he bends over for me) but otherwise I'm not needed. ONLY PROBLEM is that he only does it while naked soooooooooo how do I get him to do it with clothes on? He gets extremely upset if he wets himself!

Wooohoooo Gabriel... every little bit is closer to being fully TT

I think Hannah has had quite a few accidents back in Rotorua... but is better than she was a few weeks ago. She's started running off to the toilet by herself instead of coming to me and it being a bit late. So yay! Getting there!

Must remember to get mattress protector as she is having mostly dry nights... the last stretch (before she left) was almost 2 weeks.

Grrrr. jake has gone back to wettin everyday. Am so frustrated as he was doing so well for a while. I ask him all the time, and he'll say no, and seconds later pee! Back to the stamps I think! anyone tried getting one of those "potty elmo" things?

Can you let me know where you get it from? We have been lazy and haven't bothered with night training yet

However, she is fully daytime trained and hasn't had an accident in months

Matress protector - Warehouse. We haven't got one but I know they are there, I keep forgetting to get one when I am there.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Ended up getting a mattress protector from the baby factory. It is a small mat which has pieces on each side to tuck under the mattress.

Used it last night and we took her to the toilet at 10.30pm. She was dry until she got into our bed around 2.30am.. do you think she's not ready yet? She was dry for ages a few months ago

Okay, we have a new strategy that seems to be working. Jake went to the toilet 20 x and as a reward got talking Shrek. Now Shrek is a bit naughty and can't go to the toilet by himself we told Jake. Jake has to "show him" how to go to the toilet and then Shrek goes. It has worked really well so far. Still a few puddles, but we are working also on the theory of not giving him attention for that, but HEAPS when he successfully pees in the toilet.

jake is really funny with shrek. He sits on the toilet and makes me hold Shrek so he can "see" and Jake says "see shrek, like this!" and then we have to hold shrek over the toilet for "his turn". It's quite funny. then they wash their hands. Now if only i can ocnvince him that shrek doesn't want to share in Bathtime...

oh james if he wants and doing well let him go for it...

i have always been of the opinion that if they can undress themselves and get off their undies ok then that is a big part of TT...

Hi Luana, no James isn't too early to start training and apparently (hopefully) if they initiate the TT they 'get it' earlier and the TT journey is not so long. Briona's about the same age and she has just started asking to go toilet when she passes a motion. Most of the time she'll say when she's actually doing poos, but we've caught a couple in time!

We are back in trying to use reverse-psychology on this Murphy dude after Han was dry for 2-ish weeks and then the moment we tried her nappiless at night, she peed everywhere.

So just bought two new night nappies.

She's been dry again for atleast the last 3 nights.

We'll see how we go.

P.S. Added bonus of this method is that I really don't mind if she stays in nappies at nights because they new ones are just so cute! (Ecobubs )
