Topic: Advice Needed Posted: 12 February 2007 at 10:10am |
Hi there
My names Tara and I am new to your forum. I am 22 and me and my fiance are trying for a baby.
I am not very familar with the terms with ovulation etc, but do use the internet to research alot.
What I would like to know is, after unprotected sex - when is the best time to be tested for pregnancy.
For the last week I have been feeling very ill (nausea, dizziness and headaches).
Muchly appreciated :)
Tara

Tara it's generally best to not test until your AF (period) is late. It takes a little while for the hormones to get to the proper levels to make a BFP (positive test) and it varies from person to person. If you test too early it will just give you BFN (negative). When is your period due?

Tara we were just talking about this last week. As your AF becomes due it's common to cycle downwards emotionally and that makes it even more tough when TTC But you'll find that heaps and heaps of us have been in the same place as you and you'll get a lot of support on here. There's also a lot more in the "two week wait" like you - check out that thread sometime
Take it easy for the dizziness, and I hope you get the BFP you're hoping for! When is the wedding btw?

Hi Tara - busymum has covered things re AF and when is best to test, so I just wanted to say Hi!
Also, if you've just come off the pill, sometimes things are a bit more intense building up to AF because the hormones are your own, not artificially controlled, usually for the first time in a long time.

I dug up this older thread of mine... and unfortunately at that time AF came around.
But... AF hasn't come around this time.
My last AF started on 23rd of March and ended on the 28th of March.
HELP! When should I test? I am thinking tomorrow.
Tara

Eomachine, you are in Hamilton. ME TOO!
But tomorrow morning, I will test (even if it has to be at work). And will let you all know.

Just remember that it is best to get the first thing in the morning pee as it is more concentrated so try and hang on till you can test or else do it first thing the next morning......All though I did mine after hanging on all morning to "concentrate" my pee...got a light BFP but then repeated it a day later first thing and there was NO doubting it then.
Good Luck

I did mine in the afternoon on the day I missed my period, and it was the biggest, fattest most positive positive you could imagine. Then I went to sleep and woke up later wondering if I'd imagined it.

I have been waking up every hour or so at sleep time for the past week. I feel nauseous everyday for 2 weeks (i even had to take 2 days of last week - i thought it was food poisoning???), headaches, my temperate is fluctating, i feel bloated.
*fingers crossed for BFP*
So, I'll concentrate my pee and then try.

yeah Ladyluck fingers crossed!
Generally I second NZPiper - I tested in the morning and got a fairly strong BFP (not as strong as the test line though) and then tested that afternoon at the DRs and got no line at all! - she was happy that I was preg but just goes to show that morning stuff is much more concentrated.
My last AF started on 29 Mar and I have 25 day cycles and I got my BFP last Thurs so I reckon testing tomorrow will be well into the "safe" time( I tested day AF was due). So that said you could prob test later in the day and get your result.
