Topic: I feel wrong... Posted: 16 February 2007 at 9:25pm |
....not to have had AF return yet. It was fine while I was pregnant and for a few months after the birth but I'm beginning to lose it a bit now. Not that I miss AF as such, but I've freaked out twice because I had convinced myself that I was pregnant again and that's why it hasn't returned. Logically I know that becuase I'm still 100% BF my daughter it might not come back for a while yet, but for years it was the only sign that I wasn't pregnant and it feels wrong not to have that proof anymore...does anyone get what I mean? I think I'm going crazy! I even did a test today to make double sure, and I'm definitely not pregnant. I guess I'd also like to feel 'normal' again - like I've returned to some semblance of normal life once more...ramble ramble ramble...

I forget how old your DD is but my mum got her AF back 14 months after her last baby... so mark the date on your calendar and don't worry until then!
I'm one of these people who exclusively bf and still get AF back at around 3 months - I think, come on! Don't you (my body) think I deserve a break! lol

It is weird huh? I had a Mirena IUD fitted 3 months after I had Benjy and I had some bleeding when it was first in, now nothing. I love it and I hope it never returns but I do have little panic attacks every now and then about whether I'm preggy. (even though it would be next to impossible with the iud!!)

I'm with Busymum - enjoy it while you can! Both times mine have come back disgustingly early despite fully breastfeeding - I was fully breastfeeding TWINS and it still came bak at 10 weeks!

I know what you mean. You do sort of start wondering if maybe it hasn't returned because you're pregnant again. Mine didn't return until Matthew was just over 10 months old. I wish it hadn't now!

Hey Mazzy I totally understand how you feel. I just gave up breastfeeding a few weeks ago and am waiting for my AF to return. I went to the doctor yesterday to get a script for the pill and at the same time asked for a pregnancy test because I was paranoid that I could be pregnant too. I guess now with starting the pill my AF will return soon.

I still havn't got my af back, not exclusively breastfeeding, even almost weaned untill Anastasia got sick then she reverted back to breast which was good only I'm WANTING to fall pregnant again and its very hard to try and plan when to BD when I have nothing to go by. Cant temp as am still up during the night some nights and wouldn't be reliable. I'm thinking if I start the mini pill maybe it will return. Yes is is kinda odd and you sort of get used to not having it.

Glad to know I'm not the only one! After being scared witless by my mum about not getting pregnant as a teenager, I just can't shake the fear of no periods, what a laugh.
On the flip side, we would like to start TTC number two later this year, so I hope AF will return before then.
Can I contradict myself any more?
