Topic: The BIG OHbaby! meet up starts here... Posted: 25 February 2007 at 1:58am |
OK so a heap of you have mentioned you would be keen on a biiiig OHbaby! meet up. So lets do it! I'll have a chat to the rest of our lovely admin team about the nitty gritty stuff, but to start with lets get an idea of:
*Who is interested in coming?
*Who is prepared and/or able to travel?
*How much time do you need to save/plan etc. (so we can set a date)
*Suggestions for where to have it...
What are your thoughts?

ME! i'd be in! i am prepared to travel, not too much driving though? unless accom could be discounted if it was in the north island already would have a huge expense with the ferry and that takes a bit of time... so would prefer palmy/new plymouth or welly etc... but could do hamilton or auckland at a BIG stretch. maybe over a long weekend?? queens birthday in june maybe? i would need a few months to orgnise and save enough for accom and travel. i could be reasonably flexible on dates and where though, i'll see what other people come up with
heheh while postng this i forgot about the porridge i was cooking for the girls and BURNT it! doh!!! that will teach me.

i'd definitely be interested in coming, i'd need a bit of time to save though, like rachel said, probably afew months. rachel, maybe if we have to travel somewhere in a car we can go together and save on petrol?.....actully, just realised that with your 3 girls and my wee boy there wouldn't be enough room unless we had a van or something.
i'd probbaly prefer to have it somewhere closer but if it was in auckland i would still make a huge effort to come.

Sounds like a cool idea!! I'm definatley keen.
Auckland sounds like it would be a good place and Queens bday wknd is a good time as we can save and organise travel etc...
I live in Hamilton, so if there's anyone else from here we could drive together...

I'd be keen but not too keen on the travel part unless it is in a car. I live in Wellington. I work during the week and have only just started there this year so can't get time off during the week for a while, so if it was in the weekend that would be great. How about doing a city one first (one where everyone lives), Wellington, Hamilton tc....and then further down the track do a nationwide one

I'm keen! Am in Auckland, so here would be handy for me but if it were somewhere else and we made it over a long weekend could try to convince hubby that we need to take a trip...(to wherever it is being held)
How cool would it be to meet everyone in person?!

oh but if its queen bday I can't come - I'll be somewhere between london/la/and here....
It normally goes that its in Auckland but if there is a few in wellington and south island you may like to make it more central - even taupo (would say taranaki too but then I would be biased ) in taupo there is (now watch the spelling) whiaraki resort which is large enough to have everyone stay there. but... all depends on how many are actually going to attend.

If its in Taupo then id probably come even a few weeks before im due

I'd love to, but once again, would depend where. I would love Palmerston or Wellington - just because I have family there. Could possibly come up to Auckland but would need a while to save - cause we would ALL have to come (and you would ALL have to keep your mouths SHUT about what I say about Lewis!!!! none of thyis "oh so YOU'RE Liz's husband (giggle giggle)" - I'll get banned from the computer! Anyway, queens birthday would be good - Oh, yeah thats in June. I was thinking Labour weekend (also Jake's third birthday - gulp!!) But June could be a goer! Taupo might be okay as we could take a trip to the snow on the way back!

Taupo might work, although of course first preference is for Auckland... would need a little while to save / plan, thinking six months minimum? But am prepared to just go with the flow really

i would love to go!!!
but, unless it's more central....like say wellington, we probably couldn't afford to go it would be cheaper to fly to aussie than to auckland

in the north island wellington would be good for me too cos its only a short plane ride, I can handle that....I think.
Im not to worried for when but would need a decent amount of notice. Oh is it families or just a girls weekend? Not that it makes much difference to me but just so i know how much i would need to save.

A long weekend would have to be planned and booked well in advance otherwise we'd be out of luck...don't underestimate how quickly places book for a long weekend.
I personally like the idea of city ones...or a north island and south island one...

What about Labour weekend (October)? That gives us eight months to plan, should be plenty of time to book accomodation, transport etc. Plus Labour weekend is usally semi-decent weather.
And how about Wellington since it seems to be the most central place?
OHbaby! will organise a dinner or something for the Saturday night and then you guys can organise whatever it is you want to do for the rest of the time.
What thinks you?

I like wellys cause it's only 2 hrs drive for me - anything in a plane would be out. And it's central no matter where you are in NZ.
And October is much better than June because I would either me absolutely huge or have a newborn hehe and then I'd be able to show him off
