Topic: Ugh!! Gall Stones Posted: 19 March 2007 at 2:33pm |
Spent the night in hospital last night with Gall stones. That would have to be the most painful thing I have ever experienced, even worse than child birth. I actually thought I was going to die, I couldn't breathe, even.
I have never had them before, so I thought I was having a heart attack. Just did some research on the net, and found that is one of the symptoms. They descibe it as a colicy pain, so all I have to say is POOR POOR COLIC BABIES.
Ugh! Doing the low fat thing now to avoid ever having that again!

I had that while i was pregnant with rhiannon....and the only way i got through the pain was to walk....some nights i was walking for 5-6hours...
i also found that if i could throw up sometimes i felt better...there isnt anything they can do while you aer pregnant...but once rhiannon was 8 wks i had a op to get my gallbladder removed...was in hospital overnight and home the next day.
I hope you dont get another attack..but if you do...go straight to the docs and they can give you a shot of something to help it

I had my first attack about 2 weeks after the birth of my daughter. I thought it was just normal for all mothers. (didnt realise it was due to gallstones at that stage.).
When she was 3 months old I got about an attack every week. I thought it was a tummy bug ect. Then when she was 4 and a half months old I got like 5 attacks in one week and went to the dr that said he thinks it is gallstones. Got a scan done and yip it was there. Only wanted me to see a surgeon the next week.
2 Days later I landed up in hospital and they gave me and the scans one look and said it is coming out like now if we can. (did it first thing the next morning.).
I am telling you this if that is how sore childbirth was I would only be having one kid. (those last ones I was hitting my head against the wall and screaming.)

I don't eat alot of pastry stuff. Am gutted about missing out on roast pork, though!!!!
Am having a scan as soon as they can get me in, so hopefully something can be done soon. I did read today that pregnancy can "cause" it and it is common to have after childbirth. Something to do with extra oestrogen.
YUK YUK YUK.

They did a scan on me to confirm the dr's suspicion. I was told as well that it was due to the pregnancy and the extra burdon on my body.
My father (dear old man) said he never heard that much rubbish and it is due to me not being at an ideal weight. The more I tell him I hear of more cases the more he shakes his head.
Dont get me wrong I love my dad but hell....

Ouch Annie - hope you are feeling better now! Reading this thread I'm feeling a little lucky I haven't had any gall bladder issues given that I am 3 out of 4 of those F's Rachel mentioned!

lol - would you have worn it? Hey Annie sorry to hear you are in pain.. and missing the roasts..
I used to get a really full feeling around my liver before ihad paris, at first i thought it was just her bum pushing up under my ribs, but boy it hurt like mad, imagine my suirprise when it came back after i had had her.. then with it i got horrible pains there referring up to my shoulder, which then turned into stomach cramps and stuff too. I went to the docs a few times, to be told i didn't really fit the picture of someone who would get them.. even though i was 2 of the F's, They sent me for some scans after trying to put me on restricted pain killers - (i was breastfeeding.. so wouldn't take anything that strong!) After two scans they said to me "oh, you've just got a few polyps growing in your gall bladder, there's nothing we can do about those" and sent me home. eventually the pain went away but still get horrible fullness feeling under my ribs every now and then and feel sick if i eat fatty stuff.. fish and chips makes me really nauseous.
