Afer lots and lots of research I am purchasing an Urban Elite Mountain Buggy and am looking at getting the carry cot option aswell. I do alot of walking and we are going camping at Christmas for three weeks when our baby will only be two months old. I thought it would be handy for the baby to sleep in during the day as it would make it easier for us if we go down to the beach or go for a walk as we won't have to wake the baby and muck around etc.

Anyway, my question is has anyone purchased the carry cot option, did you get the use out of it?

I havent - but we are thinking about the MB Urban Elite too. Did you know that Baby Factory have a big sale on these at the moment (think its for the next few weeks...) they have $100 off the Elite and $70 off the normal Urban.

SimSam yep I did know about this deal, that is why I am buying it so damn early in my pregnancy - because it is cheaper than normal! I also read on a topic post here that they are going up to $799 in April for the Urban Elite!

I am just going to buy it and store it until we actually need it, better to save a $100 bucks now, than to cost another $200 bucks by the time I actually need it I reakon!

nzpiper I bidded on a carrycot the other day and was only prepared to go up to $140 for a secondhand one. I got to $140 and the other bidder went way higher than that - crazy I reakon! They are only $210 brand new! So I think I will just buy a brand new one and figure I can still get pretty good money if I want to sell it after I have used!

Years ago a woman I knew through a friend had a carry cot for her babies and it was so good. She was able to go out places move the baby to the carry cot and they would stay in there the whole time she was out. I asked her about them as I was pregnant with my first when she had her last and she loved it. She paid a heck of a lot for it (can't quite remember now how much) but that was almost 7 years ago now.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

We got the carry cot and yes we got the use out of it. We used it until Maddie was around 3 months old and used not just as our pram but as a portacot.

I also loved that it was a great height when attached onto the buggy and I didn't have to bend right down to get Maddie in and out (that wouldn't have been fun after a c-section) and I knew she was totally lie flat and firmly supported.

I highly recommend it!

I was lent a single Mountain Buggy with carrycot when Sienna was in hospital to sleep Mercedes in and it was great . She slept in it almost as well as she did inher cot at home (which is pretty good considering all the noise/lights etc. in hospital)
