And thats only the half of it. Last night someone broke into our house (while we were in it) and took my car keys, cell phone + charger and camera off the bench and then took the car (with my wallet, 3 carseats, the twin stroller and my baby sling in it).

I'd deal with the car being stolen, but I just can't get past the fact that someone was in the house while we were asleep. And even scarier is that Willie was asleep on the couch coz he fell asleep watching the Warriors replay on TV. Plus Maya woke up at 3am (which she never does) which makes me wonder if a noise disturbed her. And what could have happened if she woke up while they were in my house?

The police have been and are optimistic that I'll get the car back as they probably took it for transport rather than to sell/convert/strip coz it's an 8 year old people mover so hardly attractive. They think it will show up dumped somewhere. They're less optimistic about the carseats etc. especially the gremlins ones which are only a few months old, and the stroller which still has the tags attached.

The landlord has been and changed the locks and put extra catches on the windows (it looks like they came in the kitchen window by jamming the catch open).

Feeling at the moment? Pretty shattered!

Big thanks to Gsmum (G and T) for coming to sit with me today and lending me her car and carseat to take Mercedes to the doctor (coz just to make life even better I got her out of the cot and her ear was weeping), and to Jax for lending me Erin's old baby capsule till we get the insurance sorted, and to Toni_akl and Paws for their messages of support...

They say when it rains it pours and in your case it has done just that. That is just plain awful. I hope things get sorted soon. Well done OB friends jumping to the rescue and lending your support.

I hope Mercedes is ok, and that you can get a bit of rest! Huge from us.

We got broken into while we were asleep (I was 7 months pregnant at the time) as well. Emma I am here if you need to talk. I was quite shaken up about it for a few months afterwards.

I got up to get something to drink in the middle of the night and the cats was also quite upset and all over me. I think they tried to tell me something.

I have a carseat here that is for 0 to 5 years. Brand new if you want to borrow it. I also have McKayla's capsule here. Just need to give it a wash if you want to borrow that as well. The bit carseat can be put backwards. I have a Kango pouch and a babysling you can borrow as well if you want too. PM me and I give you my number if you want to lend it.

Oh man! That really sucks. The home invasion thing, I'd be pretty freaked out about that too but I'm glad you have had new locks so quickly.

Emma - my thoughts are with you! How awful for you, Willie and the girls!

My DH once came home and disturbed burglars, which was pretty scary, as you never know how people will react in those situations. In some ways its prob a good thing that you didnt know that they were in your house, might have been safer that way!

Still - its an awful feeling and very scary! Maybe they were in-and-out so quick that they didnt even notice Willie!

What an absolutely Aweful thing to go through - and scary. Hope the police can recover your car quickly or insurance pays out quickly. Its hard to believe that people can do that kind of thing. Big Hugs

Oh Emma I am so upset to read this....BIG HUGS hon...

Listen to what Shirena is saying too...the after effects can be worst of all...when it all kicks in feel free to fall apart and lean on any of us ok! Were here to talk, listen etc...and if i could drive right now i would come over and assist...you know that! Youve been so good to me....

They obviously didnt see Willie or they would have prob crapped themselves...and if they did then hopefully they wont be back...please make sure you are overly cautious for the next few weeks...

I am so pleased Maya didnt wake up and get up either...poor wee thing. HUGS again Emma

That is just awful - I hate burglars so much. Make sure you really look after yourself, this is a huge shock when it happens and you could suffer fromdelayed reactions for ages. Having the landlord come to make the house safer will help - maybe look at window locs on all front facing windows, or areas where burglars could access out of sight of the main road.

Big, big hugs.

that all sucks big time,

I hope that you are okay now.

Thats such a big fear of mine, I live near the prison and every time the siren goes off (usually just to call fire brigade) I panic when i hear a noise.

Hope you get your car back though
