We have a rental property next to us and new tenants moved in last weekend (2 guys and a girl) and they all noisy cars . So after a week of putting up with the van sitting in the driveway iddeling(sp?) and waking Josh up I calmly went over and asked them to stop doing it as it keeps waking my baby up (which I think I am allowed to do), and then that affects everyone in my house. The girl (silly blonde) was like oh I didn't realise it was loud (hello I had to talk quite loudly over the noise of the van so she could hear me), i'll get him to stop. They have gone out now so it will be interesting to see if she has told him when he gets back. If it doesn't stop is there anything I can do to make him stop doing it? I see the landlord there often and I would be very tempted to tell him whats happening.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Can also tell Council and they can pass the complaint along to the owner of the property, will have a bit more weight behind it then

argh, no advice there except to say i sympathise. Noisy neighbours suck. we used to have neighbours that used to run back and forth past our house when we were in our upstairs flat, and they were like elephants stompping along the concrete balcony then running down the stairs right next to our room, which happened to be where Ayja was. They woke both the girls up constantly.

oooh oooh, I remember when we had some other downstairs neighbours, their kids who they had at weekends used to do the same thing and would even go as far as to be knocking on windows and doors and banging on the railings outside which is a hideous noise (which as mike said, they are visiting downstairs, they shouldn't be even coming up here!!) anyway, one day i got so pissed with them , Had already told em they would wake up my baby.   When she did wake up, and was doing her screaming thing. I went outside, with her screaming, and told them that unless they were prepared to take her and stop her screaming for the next god knows how many hours, that i better not see their little buts back up these stairs again. felt so bad cos i heard their parents tell em off, but they didn't come up again and their dad came up and appologised.

He he, might work. Bet going over witha crying baby and saying "would you like to deal with him?!!!" might scare em a little.. mums at the end of their wits with screaming babies caused by others.. are a very scary sight! lol

That really sucks! We are moving in 3 weeks because of noisey neighbours, the plus side of renting I spose, one side of us has parties every second weekend and the other side the guy abuses us for no reason! he is a psycho!! We are glad to be moving cause we are going to a much better house which is bigger and closer to dh for work, he bikes , I hate that people just have no respect for others! We are the perfect neighbours we never party or play music loud !

we are lucky now that our enighbours on both sides are truckdrivers.. so apart fromt he odd comings and goings at interestinghours.. we don't hear a peep because they are either driving, or sleeping. plus we are good mates with one side.. so can tell em to sod off and be quiet (lol, ) without them getting offended

Well it may have worked as when he came home the van was turned off straight away. They did however have a flat warming last night that was very noisy. It didn't bother wither me or Joshua we slept through it, it was DH who couldn't sleep and ended up sleeping in Andrew's room (he was at the grandparents place).

My neighbours are nice people but still inconsiderate....we share a clothesline and they are both retired....so why do they do their washing on the weekend?????? Thankfully we will be moving in a week or 2 so will have a washingline all to ourselves....In the meantime I am waiting for some of my clothes to dry so I can get my work clothes out for tomorrow...doesnt help that I am trynig to prewash some nappies

My suggestion would be to maybe try and negotiate with your neighbours. My partner has noisy race cars he works on at home but wont start them up after dark. I know if our neighbour came over and said he was waking her baby with the cars he would want to know what times suit better and hope she was reasonable about it.

Hope it gets sorted out without ending up on neighbours at war some of those stories are so funny hahaha

The down side to young people and flatting.

I hope they are more onto it for you from now on but i agree with wrxchic Cory has a race car thats not quiet and he doesnt start it late at night but seeing we have a baby he would stop what ever he was doing if it did affect the neighbours in any way.

Hope they keep being good - nothing like a non-sleeping unhappy baby (and hubby)

I have no problem with people working on cars (DH would if he had time and the money), but this guy doesn't he just let it sit there going while they did other stuff. So far 2 days on and they have been really good. I think the baby fact and that I spoke to the girl in the flat meant something, and I did mention that we own the place.
