Topic: Heartburn/indigestion!!!!!!!!! Posted: 06 April 2007 at 9:30am |
Help I have had the worst heartburn/indigestion at night lately and nothing I do seems to be helping. I'm not eating any spicey/acidy foods and am having a glass of milk before I go to sleep.
I have tried to not take anything for it, but am at my wits end.
Can anybody recommend anything that is safe to take?

ask your midwife she should be able to help you out there, im pretty sure mylanta is safe but double check that with mw first. i got it really bad throughout my whole pregnancy with haleigh, this one hasnt been anywhere near as bad, so im guessing number 2 for me is going to be a baldy lol.
hopy it gets better soon, it isnt a nice feeling.

I had terrible heartburn at around your stage. I had some liquid mylanta and that helped. Hope you can get some relief soon.

lots of people swear by mylanta, I never used anything just slept with more pillows so i was a bit more upright, and did the milk thing alot. was horrible though. Has already started with this one.
Hope you get some relief soon - it sucks cos it's just another thing that keeps you awake at night.

Thanks for that you guys. I don't see the m/w till Wednesday but will be asking then. Will definitley try more pillows tonight. Between heartburn and backache that kept coming and going last night I ended up in tears. Poor DH!

Mylanta is 100% safe. I was going thru a box of Extra Strength chewable tablets every few days by the time the gremlins arrived.

I used Gaviscon lemon chewable tabs cos I couldnt stand taking liquid and I hate the annaseed flavour of some of them. They tasted like lemon dishwashing liquid ( well what i imagine it must taste like!)with the consistancy of chalk that turns to paste, nice! Not! I lived on them for months!

mylanta is great, gavison is okish.. don't like quick eze much at all..
Another trick is to raise the head end of the bed up, mum use to put wood underneath it and it works great apparently and your less likely to get a sore neck or back from pillows

I've had really bad heartburn throughout both pregnancies and have found mylanta liquid to do nothing for me at all but the tablets great and then the Gaviscon tablets didnt' do a lot but the liquid the best thing since sliced bread. I go through 2 bottles a week sometimes of this stuff.

I never tried the liquid stuff, I tried liquid Gaviscon when I was preg with Maya and couldn't keep it down so with the gremlins I stuck to the chewables.

It's amazing how quickly you forget the yucky bits after bubs is born tho - otherwise no one would ever go back for more!

Well ended up trying a quickeze as couldn't get to the shops to get anything else. I think it seemed to work, but took a while. Between that and an extra pillow last night was ok.
Had an apple earlier on today and boy am i suffering again now! So much for trying to be healthy I knew I should just stick with ice cream
