Topic: Throw back features in 1st, 2nd, 3rd kid? Posted: 14 May 2007 at 3:44pm |
Im a very impatient person so am itching to have clues as to what Astin will look like! lol and because Bay really wasnt what we were expecting in terms of his looks i was wondering whether Astin will have his traits or ours...
Bay has blonde hair and blue eyes which is not a dominant thing in either mine or DHs families - the blonde hair comes in a few generations back but not the blue eyes???? I had a dream that he had blonde hair and blue eyes when i was pregnant but fobbed it off thinking it would never happen and now i have dreams that Astin has dark hair and brown eyes so my question to the parents on who had a child with throwback features - Did your second child have the throw back as well or look more like a combination of the parents???

Mercedes and Alize have the same Dad. He is full Tokelauan and I am half so there is only 1/4 recessive genes going on here. Anyway Mercedes has Dark brown eyes and light blonde/brown hair. Alize on the other hand has bright blue eyes and will have the same colour hair as Mercedes. Funny thing with Alize having blue eyes is that the only person in my family that has blue eyes is my Nana. Everyone else on my mums scottish side had green or brown eyes. Arent genes just so unpredictable!!!!

Both our boys have blue eyes the resesive gene. Josh was really dark for a while and everyone was asking why he looked like a Maori. I had to explain that it is in me generations back and Josh is a throwback, he has lost it now thou.

my hubby is rarotongan/maori - and I'm pretty dark haired - Taine meanwhile is our blondie of the family. I've got green eyes however, and both my boys have dark dark eyes - Jake's are nearly black!

My dad has green eyes and my mum has dark brown eyes and I ended up with very very pale blue eyes for some reason. None of my grandparents had blue eyes either, but there are a few blue eyes in my extended family, but they are usually a darker blue not pale.
DP has greeny/blue eyes so I'm thinking Sam will have blue eyes and dark hair. Well I'm hoping he does although I wouldn't mind if he had dark brown eyes like my mum.

Ayja completely surprised us when she was born.. i dunno why.. really if you compare the two of our girls, Ayja's the one that fits more with our family profiles.. ie little tiny person with fair skin.. although the ginger hair.. THAT was a surprise. It was like "she has ginger hair.. what ? what the heck?" lol.. Mike turned to me at that point and goes.. Ok.. so where's the milkman. I think we were just expecting Ayja to look the same as Paris had.. and she was completely different tiny and ginger and fair.. took us by complete surprise.
Paris.. looking back.. didn't really fit in much with what we thought she'd be.. she was olive-skinned with dark dark eyes sticky-up black hair and was chubby.. she looked like a little eskimo nanuuk baby. lol.. of course she's change d a heap since then. Our families are a mixed bag and mikes mother is adopted.. we don't know her family history or anything.. so who knows what's recessive from that side of things.
If we do have another i will be really interested to see what it looks like.
In all though, i think Ayja has taken after mikes genes.. with her tiny stature, pixie ears, and smaller facial features. (she gets her temper from him too)
Paris definately looks alot more like my side of the family.. my neice Darrian has the same big blue eyes and facial features.. they look quite similar. ha ha, if i actually put on eye make up paris looks like me cos it makes my eyes look alot more open and we have the similar face shape etc.

I have no clue what this one is going to look like, I don't really know how much of "me" will be there. Conor's biological father was maori, hence Conor is quite dark skinned and has dark brown eyes, he doesn't really have any of my traits that I can see. Apparently he looks like my dad..just a browner version. He's really really tall for his age 173cm!! That didn't come from his parents so it must be a recessive gene from one of us.
Nyah is the spitting image of me apparently, although she looks like my sister did at 4.
I can't wait to meet this one and see what' what with it's bits and bobs.

My two littlies are exactly replicas of each other and their dad. Kaia has my eyes but that is all.
She started off looking like a mini version of me then morphed into her dad. Quinn used to have my blue eyes but they have gone green in the last year or so.
Looking at pics of the two of them at the same age, they are the same baby. I am the only person who can tell if it is a Quinn pic or a Kaia pic (except if one is in blue and one is in pink!).

My Dh is half maori & I'm nz european, we both have brown eyes. Rico is dark like his dad & has beautiful BIG brown eyes (our eyes don't particularly stand out, but Rico's do ), he looks like a little mexican boy . Gia on the otherhand is fair like me but has gorgeous BLUE eyes!! Dh mum has blue eyes & there are blue eyes on my mums side, but everyone is really surprised that we - two brown-eyed parents - have a blue-eyed child.
So I am too itching to find out what the 3rd baby will look like!! I doubt we'll have another blue-eyed child. I'm actually thinking it'll be dark again like Rico & the names we have picked out will suit a darkie better I think.

I can't wait to find out what this one will look like either! I am 1/4 maori with wavy dark hair and brown eyes- DH is a pasty white boy with dead straight dark hair and blue eyes. DD is a pasty white girl with really curly light hair and brown eyes! I swear sometimes people must think I'm her nanny- shes so much paler than I thought a child of mine would ever be.
My mum is practically fluorescent white with pale blonde hair and green eyes, all of her extended family have fair hair and green or blue eyes. My Dad has olive skin, dark hair and eyes as does the rest of his family- DHs whole family has dark hair and blue eyes. With all that mixed up in there I think the chances of this one looking like DD is pretty slim- I would quite like them to look the same though Guess we'll be finding out soon enough...

My girls look really quite alike but I guess you could say that DH and I come from similar stock. I have light brown hair and green eyes, DH has chocolate brown hair and blue eyes. So far we have green eyes, blue eyes, blue eyes (3 out of 4 grandparents have blue)... and the girls have all been born with dark hair, moving to blonde by about 6mos, just like DH did. (I have always been light brown.) Facial features are scattered somewhat though:
My eyes - H
DH eyes - B K
My nose - H K
DH nose - B
My face shape - H K
DH face shape - B?
My Tongue - B
All quite a mixture when it comes to close comparison, but if you looked at them you'd see that they're actually quite similar.

hehe Brae doesn't really look like me, with his blue eyes & blonde hair. Where is i have brown hair & brown eyes. And what is really random is DP has green eyes & light brown hair.
I remember when i 1st seen Brae, OMG i thought - he looked really dark skinned & looked like he had dark hair(musta been all the blood on him) I could of sworn it wasn't my baby (although i am part Maori- I'm the lighter skin colour type) Probably didn't help that i was still a bit dosey after the c-sec too.
Anyhow, i haven't got long to find out what Kalyx is going to look like- here's hoping for dark skin & dark eyes, just to be different.

DH is NZ European and I'm 1/2 Japanese 1/2 Irish. Alyssa doesn't really look like either of us and only has a few features we would identify as either of ours. I had expected her to come out with dark brown hair like mine because everyone kept saying my asian genes would be strong but she has quite fair hair, and I hoped she would have hazel eyes like DH but she has brown eyes like me. Genes are definitely a lucky dip! Now I'm wondering if she will have height from my Irish side of the family..I'm average height but my brother and father are 6ft4. DH is average height.

Thanks Yeah she definitely has got quite almond shaped eyes, and next to other babies I think the asian is much more noticeable too. I have similar eyes and some people see the slight slantyness, others don't..
