Topic: Natural remedies for child birth etc Posted: 09 June 2007 at 8:57pm |
the book I have been reading recommends using things like Arnica for healing after childbirth. And Rescue Remedy during labour. It mentions lots of other things too.
Has anyone used them? DO they work? Do they taste ok? Any other suggestions?
Thanks

I used the natropharm pre-birth srpay about 2-3 weeks before my due date and I had rescue remedy in my bag for the labour, but it was so quick I didn't have time for anything. I did find the rescue remedy really good for after Brenna was born. I don't mind the taste. I've also heard arnica is great for after the birth
I also found my wheat bag great for during contractions and being in the water

I have heard good things about both. I am just worried about the taste as I am not good with things that taste funny. Guess they arent too expensive to try out and see.
Yes Glow, it was the natrapharm products I was thinking of too.

To be honest Rescue Remedy tastes of weak brandy! Arnica is great. Haven't used them for birth, but will do.

I found I didn't need anything after birth, apart from the odd panadol. But during labour I loved my cold water (it was Feb) and the bath.

I took some tablets called 5W by Natures Sunshine, they're specially for the last 5 weeks of pregnancy. My uncle who is the president of the NZ Charter of Health Practitioners gave them to me. Not sure if they helped or not but I had an awesome delivery!

I used Rescue Remedy for my daughters birth a couple of weeks ago. I took it when I realised I was in labour and I do think it helped make me feel calm. It does taste a little bitter but the taste goes away quickly

I gave Maya some Rescue Remedy tonight after she bumped her head and she told me it tasted "spicy".

I took heaps of both during and after my labour. The Rescue Remedy really helped with the shock of having an emerg CS and coping with being a new mum and the Arnica helped with my recovery.
I'm not sure about the Arnica but you can put a couple of drops in water. And yes, they both taste like watered down brandy They use brandy as a preservative.

Big fan of them both here! I used Arnica after my c section with James, I put 15 drops in a bit of water. I was very surprised at how quickly I healed and was up and walking!
