even though I'm a brunette
This morning after breakfast we had to drop off my DH at the airport - he's just gone to Christchurch until Saturday for work. 8.30am and we're all ready, and we need to be there (less than 5mins away) by 8.45. So we start loading up the van and I suddenly notice that the driver's door is not properly closed.
Uh oh.
I remember it not shutting last time I got out but I needed to sort something out and I must have forgot to get back to it. Try starting it now, says DH. So I did... and nothing.
Uh oh.
So I jump in the driver's seat and DH (very calmly, I am impressed to add!) starts pushing the van out of the driveway. But Hannah and Briona are in their carseats, not done up. Briona was flipping out because her buckle wasn't done up (not scared, but it just wasn't in the right order) and I'm trying to steer backwards and calm her down at the same time. I'm not doing too well with the steering though, since the power steering is off and I can't remember which way to steer - either way didn't seem to make any difference! I look away from Bria to our car (we were backing past the car) and we have just bumped into the car's wing mirror.
Uh oh.
I yell stop! to DH and then I realise that putting my foot on the brake might be of better help. DH pushes us forward, reminds me to steer, and I do a better job. Jumper leads on, van going, leads put back in the car, girls put in the van properly, and we are off to the airport. Things went pretty well there and it was nice sending him off... anyway then we get back to the van, strap all the girls in, and the van won't start!
Uh oh.
Why did we put the leads back in the car?! So I rush back into the airport, the next plane is just leaving so I look around at the people sending it off and there are ladies, ladies with kids, more ladies with kids, two guys waiting for the next plane (they had baggage)... and a bloke. A real bloke with a 9yo boy. He was dressed casual, his hair was just "done" - no gel or suit or fancy smells - and he just had that bloke look. So I asked him if he happened to have any jumper leads in his car and Bingo! I was right!
Well I know where the pop for the bonnet is but I haven't a clue what side the battery is on and I can't even figure how to open the bonnet! So he pushed me out of the carpark (I steered this time) and jump-started me, and I was off. Except that I couldn't find the exit.
Three times.
(At least I could feel a little bit better because he went all those wrong ways too and I ended up finding the exit first!) And we went for a 16km drive because I wasn't gonna risk that again! Well then we went into town to get some movies for this week and I paid for them but then was looking in my wallet and only the movie centre card was in there, not my eftpos card! which I had just paid with!
Uh oh.
It turned out the guy had put my card and receipt in the bag. Phew! So I grabbed it in my hand because my next stop was the AA (to replace my drivers licence which has somehow disappeared on me, who knows where) and drove around the corner to the AA but when all the paperwork had been done and checked and the lady asked me for the fee, I scrambled around and couldn't find my eftpos card anywhere! I told the lady I must have left it in the van, cause I just had it, and then started looking under all the papers on the counter for my keys to the van - nowhere to be found!
Uh oh.
(I should have worn pants with pockets today!!) I left everything - including my wallet - on her counter and ran out to the van. I couldn't find the card anywhere but then remembered I had ample cash in my wallet and could just pay that way. So I ran back in and got it all sorted.
Oh boy, after that I was so relieved to get home. I found my eftpos card after I had settled down - it had dropped behind the driver's seat. And then I searched the house three times for where I had put my handbag (and movies) when I got home!! I felt like such a 'dizzy blonde' but the rest of the day has been much smoother
Hmmm that was for Kazzle but I didn't mean it to be that long. Hope you enjoyed the read LOL
