Topic: Proper shoes? Posted: 08 July 2007 at 7:12pm |
At what age did you put hard sole proper shoes on your toddler?
Caitlin only has Bobux type leather shoes and a couple of the really soft rubber "Little Feet" brand.
MiL said that now she is walking properly she should have proper shoes to support her ankles.
Any thoughts? I though barefott (or as close to it) was best?

I put proper shoes on once the toddler is walking steady (ie won't trip or confuse with shoes on), but only when we're going out. Barefoot is fine around home.
As for shoes vs barefoot, it probably depends, but I have flat feet and it is actually better for me (tendons etc) to have shoe support than bare.

Once Andrew was up and walking fine he had them on when he was outside but inside it was socks or barefeet.
I also had heard that barefeet was best so we did that mostly with Andrew and so did daycare.

Hannah wore those soft soled little feet shoes until she didnt fit those anymore (I think the biggest size is 18-24 months). Now she wears normal shoes or gumboots, but barefeet/slippers inside.

Used soft soled "shoes" as long as possible.. Bobux inside if we were in a place where it was slippery ie wooden floors. Even when Ella had been walking for a while, we used soft Hi Hippo brand shoes for walking - they have rubber soles but bend really well - the thing to look for is if you can bend them really well on the sole - in half almost.

We use Bobux shoes alot for Tyrell, we also have hard soled shoes that my mother brought for him, we do use them outdoors sometimes but he is not so keen on them. I also tried gumboots, now that was a laugh, must say we haven't tried them again.

We put our daughter in hard bottom shoes when she could walk properly but still use her bobuxs heaps we mainly use the other shoes when we go out just cos I would hate her to stand on anything that could go through the bobux.

I got Piper her first pair of hard sole shoes yesterday and she is walking fine in them. They do look funny on her though but I'm just used to seeing little hi-hippos shoes on her

We're just using the Bobux shoes at the moment. Amelia is still finding crawling faster sometimes, although is walking a lot now.
Tara .. I think the place is at Queenwood Village, can't think of the name, but there is kids shoe shop there.
For babies, both Wobble & Baby Factory stock Bobux. Wobble also has another brand now, can't remember the name of it.

I bought proper shoes when she was walking steadily. Had one pair of soft sole shoes. But she was barefoot most of the time and still is.
