Topic: Electric Oil Burners - do they exist? Posted: 15 July 2007 at 5:48pm |
This may sound like a completely wierd question but I cannot find one anywhere. Tried chemists, health shops, stvens, briscoes and all look at me like I have completely lost my marbles. The hospital won't et you use a candle oil burner, ony an electric one. Have tried googling but not many places in NZ, so has anyone ever seem them or got one for their own birth? Thanks

I have seen them but god knows where. In fact I used to have one but I dont think I do any more. You dipped a fabric wick in the oils and then put it in and it was a bit like anair frshner. I would try appliance places like harvey normans.

Where abouts are you based? In Auckland there are a couple of aromatherapy shops called Extracts. You can buy stuff online. They are quite expensive though.
Here is their webpage link:

Yup they are expensive, I bought mine secondhand off TM for $80 and didn't even end up using it So I would be quite happy to sell it to you (for a bit less of course) if you are interested ! Just flick me a PM.

Just bumping this forward as I need to find an electric oil burner in Auckland this weekend. I see there's a few online for about $60 which is far too much for what I'm prepared to pay. There's one on TM for $37 + P&P but I'm reluctant to buy it as I'm on rural delivery and sometimes parcels take a week to get here.
Has anyone seen any in an Auckland shop for around $40 preferably less?

I have been looking for one too...but my AN lady suggested flicking a bit of oil of the lightbulb Apparently it works just as well, but don't get caught!

I got my vaporiser in Aussie also.......bought it from a chemist though, but try doing a search on vaporisers on TM and you might have more luck than electric oil burners

Um, don't flick oil onto lightbulbs as it can make them explode! That's why you're not supposed to touch bulbs when you change them as the natural oils from your fingers can cause the same result!!
What I have seen are really cheap ceramic rings that you can pop round a light bulb and pour a little water and aromatherapy oil into. Should be really cheap and cos they're so small they're easy to store.
