Hi everyone,

Just thought I would share how I got pregnant (due in November). We had been trying since July 2005 to fall pregnant, after staring at so many pregnancy tests with just one line on them it was really hard not to get down! Being a nurse didn't help as I know how much of a miracle it is for a lot of people to get pregnant.

Eventually my useless GP referred us to a gynaecologist to see at least about fertility drugs (sperm count was normal, we were convinced I wasn't ovulating especially after no cycle at all June-Dec last year!). I was commenced on progesterone to induce a cycle and after that I would start fertility drugs.

I had had a recommendation from a friend for a local homeopath and started seeing her in December. She was pretty confident that the homeopathic remedies would work, by February she said she didn't need to see me any more and she would eat her hat if I wasn't pregnant within the next cycle.

I was most puzzled when the progesterone didn't induce anything. I rang the gynae office and the receptionist checked with the specialist who said I had better do a pregnancy test just in case and if it was negative I'd need a higher dose of progesterone.

Imagine my surprise when after walking to the closest supermarket I did my test at work and saw 2 lines on the test!!!! And I didn't even need to start the drugs!

So don't give up hope and don't discount wonderful alternative health practitioners in your area, a good homeopath is worth their weight in gold!

I've made an appointment to see Mother Well a clinic in Grey Lynn who specialise in fertility, pregnancy, babies and kids. Has anyone heard of them or have any other suggestions for naturopaths and accupuncturists in Auckland?

It could be a little bit of an issue that she is in Nelson, my homeopath is Mary Glaisyer, phone (03)5482107. I know she knows of at least 2 Auckland homeopaths who are excellent, you could always call her and ask for any recommendations. I know she trains homeopathy students so that's something that is helpful when choosing, being accredited enough to train others.

Hi Kiwigirl
I've been seeing Nikki Bailie (naturopath and GP), ph Herbal Health Centre: 360 1441
and Jenny Allison, Centre for Chinese Med (acupuncture) ph 360 2426 - although she's on leave at the moment. you can make an appt with her locum though, Jan cook, at the same no.
both are in Grey Lynn/Ponsonby.
I felt a bit better in terms of PMS and stuff after seeing Nikki for a while, but the acupuncture has made a huge difference (see acupuncutre list on the TTC board).
PM me if you want more info...
Good luck.
