Topic: Sleep walking?! Posted: 23 July 2007 at 10:34am |
As mnost of you will know, we went off to hamilton for the weekend. This meant that we took Ayja's cot matress and she slept on the floor at my sisters place.
Here's the thing, I have always known that she was an active sleeper, in that she's never in her sheets when i go to check on her and she usually ends up huddled up and the other end of the cot sleeping on her tummy with knees up underneath her (like she's playing heads-down, thumbs-up, lol).
Anyway, I knew she'd move around a bit, because on the matress she would have no boundaries like her cot. However, the first night, i woke to hear a noise, i thought she'd banged into the wall near her matress as i'd put her near a wall to give some boundaries etc. I go over, and cannot find her (in the dark). I turn on the light freaking out and find her.. having climbed up and over the single bed next to her and walked around the room.. now sitting, asleep, in between a set of shelves and my nieces guitar case. Theres is no other way she could have got there apart from climbing over the bed and climbing into the little space. The next night we changed rooms, (and took her with us so i could keep track of her) That night i woke to find her curled in a ball at the end of our bed instead of on her own. It was weird to say the least.
I have been thinking about taking the side off her cot for a while now however am a little anxious about doing this now if it means that she will be up wandering around the house at night in her sleep. I don't like to close her doors, i do have the hallway doors closed at night htough so only access to our room and her sisters room would be available to her. I know i can't keep the side on her cot forever.
Has anyone else had this? what did you do?!

I was a sleep walker but grew out of it. My mum found I did it more when I was really really tired. I remember I was about 6 and went for a walk I needed to go toilet so I went in the shower and turned it on. My parents spend the next 30 minutes trying to dry and re cloth me. What about trying her up first with the bars down and then go from there.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

She very rarely has nights where she will stay in one spot.. but those nights usually are the ones that she is very tired and will not move from where she was put. mostly she is always around moving in her cot.
With her, i guess having the bars down would actually increase her chances of falling more than if i just took off the side and chucked a matress down on the floor next to her bed in case she slipped out.
Thanks Becks
