Topic: what do you do in Palmy? Posted: 26 July 2007 at 3:06pm |
was planning on putting Jake into kindy when we moved, but have just realised that with lew working nights, the mornings will be the only times they have together, so was thinking about maybe enrolling him in a weekly activity, or a few depending on what they are and Lew can take him to those. so what is there in Palmy - and people, i need places and times and dates and prices. too lazy to look for myself obviouslY!

The people I work for take their children to Mainly Music at Crossroads church, it for under 4s, and I don't think you have to go to church to attend.
Mainly Music
Also they go swimming at the pool, they have swimsation at the Lido which is closer to Awapuni than Freyburg.

There's heaps of Mainly Musics around, probably every day of the week is covered in some place or another in Palmy. Plunket has a list of those and other activities.
The Library has Jumping Jellybeans on Wednesday mornings (10am I think) and Tuesday arvos as well. Puzzle library (which is also a playgroup) is in Hokowhitu on Tuesday mornings, 9.30 to 11am.

We take Andrew to Tiny Y's gym at the YMCA $5 a session its on Monday and Wednesday. I can give you more info about it if you want let me know.
Swimming lessons at the Lido and Freyberg are so expensive, but for a swim you would be best to go all the way out to the Freyberg as the have a toddlers pool $2 a swim for a child $3 for a adult.

i think you'll find that when they first start kindy it is in the afternoons...
and maybe you should check with lew first - i know my husband would prefer to play ball, or make things with blocks or hang at home instead of taking the boys to structured activities with a bunch of mums.

Just to let you know at the early Tiny Y's class a father takes his son to the class, its really cool to see his dad there with him and my DH has taken Andrew to gym a number of times.
