Topic: Hearing problems Posted: 31 July 2007 at 7:52pm |
I think I might finally have to look into my hearing. I've ignored it for a few years, but I think it might be getting worse.
It's not that I think I'm going deaf or anything, but I struggle to hear low tones - most especially, male voices. I usually end up asking them to repeat themselves two or three times until they speak very clearly, or else it just sounds to me like mwah mwah mwah mwah I can hear the voice, but I struggle to identify words. Add an accent in there and I'm screwed. It's almost like my ears can't keep up with what they're hearing.
Does this sound normal to you guys? It's quite tiring having to concentrate so hard.

WHAT!!???
hehe sorry.
i had my hearing checked just before christmas and i am moderatly deaf in my right ear and considerably deaf in my left ear(and im only 21). i struggle to hear people on the ph and i am always asking people to repeat themselves.i am still waiting to hear back about a retest though.
if i was you i would get it checked asap so that if something needs to be done it can be done sooner rather then later.and before it gets worse.your ears may just need a simple good clean

I am constantly asking Tobin to stop mumbling but not sure if that's him or me.
I'd get them checked just to be sure... or atleast wait until you break a finger again so that you don't have to fork out for another overpriced appointment at the docs

Just don't get the guys started on here Ginger
How long has it been going on? You might have a blockage? It certainly doesn't sound normal, I'd get it checked out sometime too.

I have this exact same problem, I can not hear people if they mumble or turn away and talk. I had my ears cleaned out about 4 years ago and it worked fantastically! Alas my hearing has deteriorated again. I think I should get mine checked too. PM me what your Dr says when you eventually get around to getting your hearing checked.

I'd say get it checked too. But only if the doctors bill doesn't cut into the shopping budget

My DH has a similar problem - but with him its because he needs to get them syringed every 3-6 months. (This normally co-incides with us being away from home, and ending up paying for an A&E visit to get it done....like the time in Port Douglas that cost us $400 - but we got it back on insurance phew?!?) He gets completely blocked up and the only thing that helps is syringing. But before they get totally blocked his hearing gradually gets worse and worse...to the point that once they are done he asks me not to shout!!!
Would be worth getting them checked - could be something really simple.
