Topic: ..........R.I.P Baby Nia......... Posted: 03 August 2007 at 10:00pm |
R.I.P our little angel.
Nia, your life may have been short but you have captured the heart of a nation, a huge achievement for someone so young. I hope you know that not all adults are cruel, spiteful, and hurtful people. I'm sorry that you had to go through so much hurt, so much torment. I'm sorry those horrible people were apart of your life. I wish I were able to look after you and love you.
You are in a better place now, far better than what you had to experience here on earth. Where you are no one can hurt you, no one will ever make you cry, no one will ever inflict pain on your little body. There is nothing but love to surround you.
We see pictures of you with this beautiful smile, yet we know deep inside, you were hurting, and suffering such a great pain, pain that many of us will never know. Now you have been released of that pain, and you can smile once again.
Beautiful beautiful Baby girl, you will forever be in my heart.
Arohanui Nia

Yeah I saw your post..after I started mine lol. It's just so heartbreaking. How could people be so cruel, so sadistic. I would never want to know what kind of thoughts go through the mind of a person willing to hurt a little child in such a horrendous way.
So unfair, she never got a chance to live her life. But I know that she is in a safe place now. God has taken her in his arms, where she will be showered with such immense love. Love she deserved to have while on earth.
The good thing is that she is no longer suffering, those b@stards can never touch her again, and she is finally free for the physical and emotional pain she's had to go through.
I've just seen some pictures of Baby Ngati, who was the 3 year old boy who was beaten to death by his birth mother and father,3 months after being placed back in their custody, after spending the first 3 years of his life in a loving, caring home with his adoptive parents.
These pictures were very graphic, and I burst into tears seeing this lifeless body, completely covered from head to toe with bruises and lines where he had been beaten with a baseball bat.
Something needs to be done about this abuse, and it needs to be done now. Too many of our babies are dying, all because their parents, family are so cowardly that they have to take out their frustrations on a small defenseless baby. Where do they get off hurting children like that? It sickens me to the pit of my stomach. The children of this nation, and of the world, deserve to live without fear, to be loved and cared for, and to be able to trust us.We are suppose to be protecting their innocence. These monsters that prey/beat down on these little angels will reap what they sow. Whether it be in this life or when they come face to face with our creator, they will suffer for what they did.

It costs us (the NZ taxpayer)$290 per day to keep ONE prisoner in jail. A bullet to the head would be much better.

So nicely put Eva! I was shocked to hear she'd died, they always said she'd pull through. But like some of you say, those bastard will now go down for manslaughter & I'm sure the nation will make sure they're put away for a LONG time!! ALL 5 OF THE PRICKS!!!!
The thing is, Nia is not alone, this sort of thing is happening EVERY day, in EVERY part of our country. So we all need to be on the watch & "nosey neighbours" as they're putting it.
The sort of things that they did to her, put her in a tumble dryer, swing her around on the clothesline etc - WHO THINKS OF DOING SUCH ABUSIVE THINGS TO A HUMAN LET ALONE A CHILD?!!?? Like you say Eva, it is sadistic!!
But, I hear P was involved. I'm sick of hearing that this drug can be responsible for so much violence/unlawfulness. The person taking the drug is STILL responsible for their actions for taking the damn drug in the first place!

Or maybe tortured, beaten, hung out on the clothesline, chucked in the dryer & nuked in the microwave just for sh*ts & giggles?
A bullet would be to quick & not inflict enough pain!!
That was really hard for me to comprehend what happened to that beautiful innocent little girl
RIP Nia- no more hurt honey

they wont go away for long, P will be used as an excuse and the charges wont change from assault.
and that is the reason why the abuse contines because we dont put a high price on the life of a child. and in the case of the other high profile case recently (mentioned by ooevaoo) some cultures are still stuck in the past where casual "adoptions" are still the norm and children live with other relatives if the parents cant cope but there are no checks put in place to make sure these people should have their children back when they ask for them. and they have no legal standing either.

and that says to them that what they did is alright.
violence doesnt solve violence.
worse for them would be if they were made to understand the horror of what they did (they same way we all get it) and then have to live with it - while in prison - for the rest of their lives.

Yep violence begets violence, but what do you do? They need to be reminded everyday for the rest of their lives what they did to an innocent child with no provocation.
This wee soul is now out of the hurt and in a better place(wherever that is), no more pain and humiliation
and I know I hugged Fay just a bit longer last night.
I just read that in Christchurch, Social Services (sorry I forget the NZ name for the same dept) is removing one child a week from abusive situations - what can be done to make everyone understood that violence is never OK? Drugs, alcohol or not?

And will be fed, clothed & cared for during that time- even paid???? BUT Hopefully tortured by inmate/s.
Prison would just send mixed messages & wouldn't be a worthy punishment in my eyes.
Am all for corporal punishment!!! Eye for an eye- life for a life.
Do unto others....

I agree that violence won't solve anything.
The only punishment that will work on these people would be to have their mana/pride taken away (some people prize this more than their own flesh & blood!) hit them where it really hurts! Put their faces on the front page of every newspaper so that everyone knows the sick people that do these things to defenceless children!
I can't remember if it was in NZ or the UK but the police/justice dept listed names of people who had outstanding fines in the newspapers. Perhaps that's what needs to be done for abusers?
I know there will be all those "bleeding hearts" out there who will say that would be against the rights of those people - well what about the rights of those children that were battered to death by the people who they loved unconditionally? The abusers don't deserve to have any rights as much as those children don't deserve to be subjected to abuse at the hands of those that created them!
Just my thoughts - things like this make me sick!
To be a parent is such an amazing privilidge that is given to a person there's an awful lot of people out there that need to be reminded of this

Yes - why haven't their shameful faces been plastered over the media? There names are out there, but that means nothing to me!
I think they will get a slaying from fellow prisonmates but that's not going to make up for what they did to wee Nia.
I agree Glow, an eye for an eye...

My nephew was whangai'd (adoption within the family) from a cousin to my older sister. Luckily for us we have had no problems with the birth mother asking for him back etc, which I am thankful for each day, as his young life wouldn't be a happy one. With my sister he has a loving home, a big sister who absolutely adores him, and a mum who would do anything for him. Had he have stayed with his birth mother, he would have been surrounded by prostitution, drugs (including P) and the gang atmosphere.
It's scary to think how his life could have been. He could have easily been another abused baby.
New Zealand has had too many wake up calls. It's about time something is done to protect our children.
