Is UNBEARABLE!!!
I have the WORST toothache ever it feels like someone is smashing my face with a jackhammer!!
How am i supposed to go to the dentist? They are SOOO expensive.. Im broke untill my maternity leave kicks in, i dont have a credit card, AND i cant get finance, none of them let you pay it off.. I dont know what to do, i cant live with this pain, i cant sleep!!
Anyone know what i should do?

Try the dentist at the hospital make sure you say you are pregnant or go to your doctors as it sounds like an abscess in which case you will need antibiotics to clear it up, before you go to the dentist anyway.
Hope it feels better soon!

DO you have a community services card? I know some dentists used to do it free or really cheap with a CScard. Otherwise I'd turn up at the hospital in pain!! and 9 months preggers!!!! See how easily they turn you away. Remember panadol is ok to take!

i think they have a dentist during the day but not at night. i'd ring and find out first before you go down and if they do....definately go!! it maybe an absess and you don't want to muck around with those!
or perhaps ring a dentist and say how much pain you're in and heavily preggy, they may feel sorry for you and let you pay it off.
hugs hun, toothache is the worst pain in the world!!

Yup, CHCH hospital has an oral surgery department, but theres usually a waiting list system with it...but try giving them a call. I used to go to Linwood Dental Centre, and as far as dentists go, they were pretty cheap. Perhaps ring around and see what prices dentists are for check up etc and their payment methods...?

Winz will also pay for 'emergency' dentist visits. Might be worth giving them a call?
Hope you can sort something out Kandice!

Still havent quite figured out how im going to pay for it, but what can they do? I could pay some so they are just going to have to live with it!

You poor thing - not what you need just now
Best of luck with your appt & I hope you can get some relief. I'm sure if you explain your situation to the dentist they will be able to help with a payment plan or something

Definitely definitely go the emergency room at the hospital. They will give you painkillers that are safe for you to take and to ease the pain until you can safely go to the dentist.
I had a tooth pulled at 5 months pregnant and the pain was just unbearable. I was also told that the first and third trimesters are not good times to go to the dentist and the safest time is the second trimester.
I couldn't get my tooth pulled until I'd had a weeks worth of antibiotics too as the anasthetic didn't do anything because the infection was so bad.
Good luck, I feel your pain. I spent Christmas day in agony. One thing that helped until I could see the dentist was to chew on a wet cloth and grind your teeth on it. This feels really good.

if you have an absess you may need to get the tooth out unfortunatly,or drain it (root canal) but thats more expensive.
Which tooth is it?
Try calling winz, i cant remember if you need to be one of their clients, if you are then you get $300 worth of dental treatment a year .
Panadol is fine to take, and if you werent pregnant id say drink scotch, even the dentist i work for says that helps lol

Lol.. id love some scotch.. Im back from the dentist and "apparently" its my gums.. pregnancy gingivitis?
So he done a scale and clean (which i must say hurts like no other) and i walk away $140 poorer (thanks mum)
And... I STILL HAVE MY TOOTHACHE..
It went away for about 5 mins after i walked out of there..
but now its back with a vengence.. he reckons 2 days before the pain will subside
I cant handle that!
Iv been taking panadol back to back every 5 hours since 2am..

I also had no problem with my teeth or gums whilest preggas. Not long ago I had tooth ache, turned out to be nothing but the dentist gave me a tooth moose (sp?) that worked after 2 days of applying.....but don't know what it had in it.
I hope it clears itself up for you soon.
