...my Mum that MCN's are better than the old flat cloth nappies? Any ideas? I want to make some (to save $$ on buying them) but my mum already has a bunch of old flats that she said I could have.

Also, does anyone have any ideas how I could incorporate the old flats into my nappy system... can they be used as inserts, etc. Are there any other useful things that they could be used for?

Flats are very useful for a whole bunch of things!

Yes, you could very definitely use them for inserts. Fold them up into a pad shape and stuff them in pockets.

And maybe get hold of a MCN to show your mum? They are so cute in real life and so soft! How could anyone resist?

I wondered the same thing until I showed my mum and MIL the MCNs and they were blown away.....wished they'd had something like it in their day.

And flats have SOOOOm any uses that dont involve bottoms

I have about 20 flats and none of them get used as nappies - burp cloths, something to place under baby's head in cot, on change table, in nappy bag so I can place Kaleb on someone else's floor...

The biggest plus for MCN over flats is not leaking at the edges every single time!!!!!

That's what I got told when I asked my friend why she uses sposies.

A lot of people don't seem to know about MCNs.

We always have Daniel sleeping with his head under good old flats because if he spills then if we get to it fairly quickly we don't have to change the sheets etc which is great in the middle of the night!

I have heaps of flat cloths as they are great for everything as the other ladies have mentioned. Burp cloths, under his head in the cot, wiping up the constant spew and I always have one on top of the change table too.
