I would think it would be okay if you halved ("opened") it first... maybe give it a try?

It should still work cos it will get broken down on the way down to your tummy and once it hits your tummy.

I would try the liquid only that makes me sick as well but im all good taking tablets (as long as i dont have to chew them!!!!).
Iv heard that you can get aniseed flavoured liquid though which i havnt tried so i might try and hunt that out and hope that it tastes so good that i dont get sick!

Baysmum, yes you can get aniseed liquid in a 500ml bottle. It doesnt come in the small bottles anymore. If you have a nice pharmacist (like me ha ha) they might bottle up a smaller amount so you can try it first. As for swallowing the tabs whole, I think you will find they will take far too long to take effect. And they are disgusting arent they!!!
Nothing else acts quite the same as gaviscon (its what they call an alginate), but mylanta and titralac are antacid alternatives if you find you cant stomach gaviscon. Titralac is good because it gives you extra calcium too.

Keep it in the fridge i found that the coolness of it hitting my heartburn helped sooo much!

Towards the end only ice cream worked! Well thats my theory anyway

Get Quickeze tabs - the mint flavoured ones. They were the only ones that did not make me gag while I was pregnant - really quite yummy. I hated Gaviscon - esp the aniseed flavoured one

Gaviscon make me gag too, so I'm buying quik-eze in bulk. The reason you suck on the gaviscon is because it passes through your mouths membranes and straight into the blood stream where as if it is swallowed you have to wait for the whole digestion prosses.

Try eating almonds - about 5 whole almonds are fantastic when you have heartburn (and they taste a million times better than anything you buy at the pharmacy). I have had heartburn pretty badly and swear by them.

Ooo I've got shocking heartburn at the moment. DP bought me some ginger and lemon flavoured chewy quickeze and they are just like eating lollies.

They work pretty well too.
